"I am very unhappy"
At no point was I given a clear reason that justified this invasion of my privacy.
Concerns & Violations
Lack of Justification – UK government guidelines state that school staff can only search a student's phone if they have reasonable grounds to suspect prohibited content. I was not given a valid reason for this search.
Privacy Violation – A phone contains personal and sensitive information. Searching through it without proper cause is a serious breach of trust and may go against the Department for Education’s guidelines on student searches.
Pressure to Unlock My Device – If I was coerced into unlocking my phone, this could be seen as an abuse of authority. Schools do not have the right to force students to provide access to their personal data.
Failure to Follow School Policy – If Denbigh School has a policy on phone searches, I request clarification on how this incident aligns with that policy. If my rights were violated, I expect the school to take corrective action.
Requested Actions
I request the following:
A written explanation of why my phone was searched and under what authority.
A review of the school’s phone search policy to ensure compliance with legal guidelines.
Assurance that similar incidents will not occur in the future without proper justification.
An apology for any distress caused by this situation.
If I do not receive a satisfactory response, I will consider escalating this complaint to the governing board, the local education authority, or external organisations such as the Children’s Commissioner for England.
I expect a response to this complaint within [reasonable time frame, e.g., 10 working days]. I hope this matter can be resolved fairly and in accordance with students’ rights.
Sincerely,
Anonymous

"Denbigh being bad"
"Forces students to not like people they don’t like"
I believe in free speech and free thinking.
That right there is not free speech or free thinking. It’s brain washing. If he likes someone let him like him, it’s not the schools choice. My brother is his own person not the school’s property.
"Excellent school with great facilities!"
"SMELLLYYY"
"Decent, But Had Some Issues"
I did have some issues regarding how bullying was handled.
I also experienced a traumatic event outside of school, which greatly affected my mental health and studies. They gave me access to organisations to help support me, however struggled to be empathetic and accommodating when my symptoms affected me in class (despite being fully aware of these issues).
The cafeteria is also weirdly overpriced and didn't have many good vegetarian options last time I was there.
Overall, a decent school and probably one of the better ones in Milton Keynes.
