"I regret EVERYTHING, importantly, not changing schools!"

I came here for what I would hope would have been a better school life then my primary school but I was horribly mistaken. My mental health was drained from all the constant bullying that I had to deal with, and like the teachers said, "If you have any problems, don't worry and come see me and we will deal with it". But, to my discovery they did ABSOLUTELY nothing, I was bullied from Year 7 all the way to Year 10 and my life was absolutely miserable, I went to the teachers multiple times, but the staff and teachers didn't do anything besides talking to the bullies and "telling them to stop" but this did nothing but make things worse, to the point where I wanted to end things. However, some of the teachers in this school were amazing and polite and actually willing to listen to you and you're feelings, I had a Math's Teacher who allowed me to spend most of my school life in his classroom, which changed my life for the most part as I didn't have to worry about being bullied by the bullies since I never went outside. During the school years at this school, MANY principles, were changed and many teachers left and joined and many supplies were harassed due to the students. Supply lessons were utterly pointless, because the students would misbehave and the supply spent most of the lesson trying to get back up teachers to gain control of the class.

The corridors in this school are so narrow to the point you're basically queuing up just to get to lessons, people pushing and shoving past just to try and beat the clock and 5 minute rule to get to lesson on time, or else you'd be given a warning and told off. The "Traffic" in the school got to a point where the head of year department had to stand in the cross-section of the corridor to act as a traffic light to let people know when they could and couldn't move, but that didn't stop the shoving. The corridors in the school need to be made wider and to do so they should remove the Lockers, since hardly anyone use them. When I started Year 7, I was given a broken locker which was unusable and throughout the years, lockers were broken into and filled with trash and garbage of leftovers of food.

In Year 10, we had to do a lockdown due to a drug addict being in the woods nearby with a gun, and the police had to be involved and was very off putting because who knows what could have happened if they got into the school because the security of the school is terrible. The only way into the building from the outdoor areas were through the metal doors that required a teacher to let you through so if you were to get left out you'd be locked out, this got to the point where people were pulling the door open just to get in, letting the alarms go off causing a huge distraction.

Overall, this was a terrible mistake of a choice of school, especially since my Older sister was also bullied here and nothing was done, I should have learnt my lesson but stayed here, The bullying, the teachers saying they'd sort something out, was absolutely terrible, I regret not changing schools to save not only my mental health, but my confidence that left with it, Especially since the teachers say they want to treat you as young adults and let you leave the school with confidence for the future.

"DONT SEND YOUR KIDS HERE"

this school is absolutely dog shit not even lying, the amount of times they have stopped me from going toilet after telling them i have medical reasons, and the amount of times they have told the ladies in the canteen not to serve me food is diabolical, when i told them this was illeagle and they aren’t allowed to do that they said they are allowed, the first few months will go normal and after that they basically give a big fuck you,lie to ur parents twist up story’s and only say the things you have done and never admit the things they do,they pulled my parents in for so many meetings and low to their faces and when i try being up things they have done wrong they try dodging it and turning it around on me,i have a long list of things i can say they have one and one of them was laughing at me after seeing me in the isolation room that she herself has put me in,when ur feeling i’ll they won’t call ur parents, they only call parents to say if ur misbehaving, and once u try to put ur point across they will start giving u more punishments or just walking away from the situation,i wish i never came here, horrible school, and i’ve noticed it’s the foreigners like myself that get in the most trouble even if we do the same things as a british person, they deny A LOT of things,a teacher called me crazy once so i had to write a statement so i went out to write it and they told my parents i walked in and out of isolation without permission not even knowing the full story and when the head teacher read mine and the other teachers statement she instantly took the staffs side, they only care about staff and not students metal health or wellbeing, some days i feel like i want to rip my hair out bc of the stress they cause me and there is so much more things i can name, like how quite a lot of the bad reviews are private and u must pay to see them, moral of the story do NOT join, make sure ur parents read this review and others, and try find a better school then oasis.

"DO NOT send your kids here if they struggle with anything mentally"

I have struggled with my temper for many years due to suspected neurodivergency the school was supposed to support me by doing an autism assessment but as per it never happened. The staff are degrading and are only willing to listen to the kids who are able to communicate their emotions in a calm manner. They refuse to let you go home if unwell even if you text your own parents and they ring to let you home i even got punished for texting my own mum whilst being unwell. There has been multiple occasions where staff have invaded students privacy i had a teacher tell me in Year 7 he could “see up my skirt whilst i walk up the stairs” that same male teacher came into the girls bathroom and demanded i get out, one of the teachers put their arm infront of my face then when i tried to move her arm punished me for “assaulting a member of staff” the teachers will pick and choose the children they want to punish whether theyre in the wrong or not. I have had multiple teachers follow me around the school whilst i have asked for some space and time alone to calm down as i always get punished when i cannot control my anger but they continue to poke and prod at me. There was an incident a couple years ago where a female member of staff told my friend who is not out of school that she “looked like a prostitute” because of the length of her skirt (this teacher was allowed to stay at the school). The uniform policy is ridiculous, the school website doesnt include that your child will be shouted at if they wear the wrong socks, their skirt is deemed to short (also for girls with bigger thighs like me anything is deemed to short and “inappropriate”), if their shirt isnt tucked, if they wear a jumper with a tiny logo even if it means they freeze in a short sleeve shirt all day and much more. Children with the ability to think for themselves and the ability to stand up for themselves will be deemed as a nuisance no matter how little they cause a fuss, the toilets are locked unless you have a medical pass (no being desperate isn’t an excuse). The level of education is terrible even students with 100% attendance have no clue what is happening in their lessons. The staff are rude and mock you. If you try to defend yourself you are punished and sent to reflection room (3 lessons and a social time) or ready to learn (6 hours and both social times). I have seen people actually spit on the floor and say “look at the state of the place anyways” In other words just dont bother. (the sausage rolls are good tho)

"Shocking"

Don't deal with bullying at all. Let the issue continue.
Poor communication with parents, always an excuse for the issues raised.
Only seem interested in attendance and uniform probably so they look good what about the issues that go in the school.
Seems like there's no authority so bad behaviour just continues and gets worse.
Would never send a child here unless you have no other options.

"My review of Oasis Academy Brightstowe"

I am a year 8 pupil at Oasis Academy Brightstowe and so far, I have had a great experience at this school. To begin, I would like to talk about education and learning. Oasis Academy Brightstowe has a great curriculum, with many interesting topics and lessons. I particularly like the way that the maths and science lessons are taught and planned. At Oasis Academy Brightstowe, I have made some great friends. I am a person who has been bullied however the school dealt with this quickly and effectively. Most of the time, I feel safe in the Academy and have many members of staff that I can talk to. In terms of the outdoor environment at Oasis Academy Brightstowe, there are many amazing sports facilities available to use at break and lunch times and during PE lessons. There is very little litter left of the field at social times so this creates a really nice outdoor environment. I will now talk about staff and teachers. Most of the teachers here are very engaging, particularly the core subject teachers: English, maths and science. During my first year at this school, I never had permanent teachers for maths, science, drama and music, however this year the school employed new teachers with amazing teaching skills. I am very happy with all of my teachers and I am never bored in any lesson. Talking about indoor environment, most of the time, corridors are very crowded and so it takes longer to get to lessons, resulting in people getting in trouble for being late. I understand that we cannot make the corridors any wider though. On the other hand, classrooms are usually kept clean and tidy for lessons, as well as places such as the canteen, assembly hall and corridors. I am a person who never has school meals, however based on what my friends have said, it is very good. There are a wide range of hot and cold foods available each day ranging from paninis, snacks and crisps, sweet treats, fruits, drinks, hot meals and even more. Finally, I would like to talk about activities. There are many after-school clubs available to join as well as inter-house competitions every week at lunchtime. There are three houses: Opportunity (Blue), Ambition (Pink), Bravery ((Purple)(My house)). Overall, I think this school is great and I would highly recommend this school.

"IF YOUR A PARENT DO NOT EVER SEND YOUR KIDS TO THIS SCHOOL"

This school actually needs to be completely re-done in every way from staff, rules, priceing of food and SOMEBODY GET RID OF THE LOCKERS they are useless and make less room for the crowds of people who swarm the corridors either someone or ANYONE at this point re-do this school or just burn it to the ground because theres no hope for the students at this hell prison of a school that incourages gambiling with raffles and fake money which should be a violation of some school code because your literally settting up kids to be unsuccessful, depressed, have trauma and gambling problems from exposing them to it early on

"school is full of violence and lots of teachers don't care"

Just awful!! communication is terrible, no homework, food is expensive, teachers spend most of their time dealing with behaviour, loads of bullying, the lessons are poor if you do all your work your sat there twiddling your thumbs, they come down hard on the good kids and let the trouble makers get away with everything.

"My Experience at Oasis Academy Brightstowe"

My experience here is a rollercoaster of emotions. When I first joined the teachers were quite nice to me, always helping me, some even favouriting me. The teachers are not the problem, it's the students. The students behave like wild animals who found a bag of *illegal substances* they repeatedly shout out during class, swear violently at the teachers, and are mean to other students. The amount of pushing and shoving during lessons is immense, and the school does nothing about it. You will be sworn at, you will receive massive amounts of hateful comments to yourself. This school really needs to sort this out.

The education is good, if the teachers realise that you're too above for what they are teaching, they will give you something extra to do, some teachers are a little bit annoying, but, what can you do? You should expect at least one annoying teacher in your entire school life.

I haven't had much experience with the school food, it is for the most part just an average school dinner. Most of the kids there just get the chips and drinks they offer at the two stands that are there.

In overall this school is an okay place for education, there are better schools in the area, the only problems are the amount of bullying and harassment at the school but if you or your child are the kind of person who can deal with that, then this school should be fine. A recommendation would be to just make good friends at the start, and you should be smooth sailing from there.

"My opinion"

I made some great friends here, and the food is okay. However, communication with parents is terrible and we still don’t have lockers which is annoying. Some teachers are good, but most of them don’t send anyone out (who deserves to go) meaning that the people who want to learn can’t. Girls toilets are always filled with people vaping, doing makeup, or just chatting with their friends. I don’t know what the boys toilets are like but they seem fine. Uniform is ok but the ties are kind of ugly. People are meant to be set for lessons, but they still put disruptive people in top set which is very unfair. Corridors are still full of pushing people no matter how many precautions they have. Assemblies seem unnecessary, and get bribed with sweets for attendance which seems to be one of the only things they care about. We have really long tutor sessions in which we do no learning and once my friends got cheese sandwiches lobbed at her head. If you want to go there, fine, but it is not great.

"BRIGHTSTOWE IS SHIT"

DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT SEND YOUR KID TO THIS SCHOOL. This school makes me have the worst mental health and a lot of other children aswell. And they have a behaviour system where they will put all the students in a room and they have even started locking the door. It makes us feel like we r loosing our minds and it doesn’t help but make us students angry. Half of the time we are in there for stuff we didn’t do. This school doesn’t help with bullying at all and doesn’t care about any students mental health. They also take your phones off you even if u say it is an emergency. Imagine u got your period or something and u needed your mate or your mum you ain’t gunna wanna say that to a teacher let’s be real. And let’s talk about the fact we had a different head teacher every 4 years that just shows no one wanted to stay in the school. It is horrible and the way they treat students it actually horrible. DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD HERE UNLESS U WANT THEM TO HAVE A SHIT SCHOOL LIFE WHICH THEY WILL

"DONT GO TO BRIGHTSTOWE❌"

Oasis academy brightstowe is the shittest school ever. They do not care about any students feelings or mental health, they don’t care about anything other than you wearing the right uniform to make the school look good although they’re not. They try to make it seem like brightstowe is this amazing place and it’s not at all. Do NOT be fooled. I’d rather experience a brutal death than be at this school. I had the worse experience at this school and it’s only getting worse and worse each academic year. I know hundreds of people that could say the same, and I quite literally mean.. hundreds! Do not send your kids here unless you want them to have the worse mental health ever. (plus they couldn’t even keep a head teacher for a while had a different one every year for 4 years) EMBARRASSING 😂
