"Dangerous for your mental health!"

Blaise High do not care if you have mental health issues that are caused by them! The head teacher will tell parents "It's a school not a hospital", yet when OFSTED come round to visit, the slaps a label on a door of a cupboard claiming it to be "Mental Health Support". They claim online that Mountain Rescue is always there to support-it doesn't. They tell us students that are struggling "Get in that classroom or your suspended" when you are shaking and hysterical crying because you can't take any more, then lie to parents saying "Your child has refused support". I walked in one day after struggling to leave the house for 3 hours and was crying and hyperventilating, only for my head of year (I'm in Y10) to throw her hands in the air saying "I ain't dealing with this, I give up"....yet her oldest child who's at the school is walking up and down Station Road until nearly 1pm and isn't treated the same way! My GP has contacted higher staff and spoke to them about my mental health, and still I've been denied a part time timetable or access to early college, you name it. I've barely been in lessons because I'm struggling mentally, I've only been to one practise exam, which is art and I'm gobsmacked that this was allowed, seeming it's a subject I love and staff want to prevent me from going to it. I beg you, do not send your children here because they will barely make it out alive from mental health issues

"Reasons Why This School Is Bad:"

If you are wondering if your child should go to this school or if you are a teacher desperately trying to find a good review that paints this school in a good way/light, listen up. I will list a few reasons why this school is the worst school in Bristol.

- For starters if you would just search up "Blaise High school is the worst school" after this website there are a bunch of stuff saying that this school is like a military bootcamp and they arent wrong. I agree that disciple is good but this school takes it too far. We students are like robots everyday, putting on a fake mask just so you don't get yelled at. It's torturous. Honestly the parents probably leaving good reviews probably don't understand what is happening in this hell-like school. I really hope a teacher reads this.

- I am pretty sure they don't care about students well-being even though they try and seem like they are all about mental health, like don't lie. Literally remember this one time I was crying and teachers that saw me ignored it or gave me dirty looks. Like sure you are all about mental health. So in short, THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT YOU!

- Teachers, ew gosh. Some - a lot of them - start getting sidetracked from the lesson, it is like being teached by a little kid with a short attention span, honestly. Also sometimes teachers can be offensive, an example is one teacher started saying the Bible was sexist.

- This school only cares about their image. Going back to the mental health, all they care about is looking good and being the best school in Bristol. You have to pay Β£1 for something as stupid as a house badge. When the inspectors came they switched up so quickly. I remember an inspector was questioning me and some others about how they feel about this school and as soon as the inspector left a teacher full on ran up to us and wanted to know how we replied to the questions making sure we didn't say anything bad about it. I recently got in touch with a family friend and they told me how well the teachers treated them whilst they were touring the school - they finding a school for their child - and it showed me how duplicitious the teachers can be.

After reading this and many other true reviews - if you are a parent - I hope you evaluate your decision on letting your child go here.

If you are a teacher - especially the head teacher - I hope you realise what you are doing to your students.

"Avoid if you value your child's mental wellbeing and education"

This school is like marmite, you will either love it or loathe it.
My child has been failed by this school. Their SEN provision in mainstream is an absolute joke. They ignore medical and expert opinion, ignore diagnosis, ignore pupil passports and unless your child has an EHCP they do as they please. The teachers are inconsistent, the approach is militant and unless your child can self teach and learn in silence they will drown.

"Terrible, home school if this is your only option"

Disgusting school that abuses its pupils through insisting no on robotic sitting still and listening or face hours in detention missing education. This system especially fails SEN kids not able to deal with such practices and leaves everyone else learning how to follow orders without thinking or complaint and lack of confidence and independence. Headteacher advocates disruption free learning and getting teachers to communicate using scripts. Ridiculous! Avoid at all costs!

"Excellent Education and Values"

Blaise High School has exceeded my expectations in every way. My child has thrived in the supportive and inclusive environment, and I appreciate the emphasis on teaching knowledge to access any level of society. The character education offer has also been a highlight.

"Change of leadership needed immediately"

Awful school, no concern for children's mental health or their feelings. Pupils are never allowed to give a response to the teachers or give their point of view. The head believes all children should be treated the same including send and that it is his way or the high way. Not enough seats at dinner time and pupils were being punished for walking to the bin to dispose of food. Year 11 students still expected to complete homework and questions every night night even though they have started GCSE exams. Made to stay until 4pm every night even after having exams that day. Poor communication from the head and school. They like to appear transparent and open when they are anything but. They really don't want parents in the school, hence they did away with parents evenings. When they did have complaints regarding this, meet the teacher events were scheduled for 4.45pm when most parents would be working. Climb you own personal mountain πŸ₯΄

"Do not go to this school"

I hate the school soo much. It’s soooo overcrowded as well as every thing being super overpriced (including food and definitely school uniform). I’ve been bullied all my life and the teachers do nothing. I struggle really bad with my mental health and they do not help, if anything they make it a whole lot worse. I also have ADHD and they cannot be bothered to help me out a little extra so my grade drastically suffers and they always blame it on the fact I don’t do as much homework. There is been many situations of racism and again they don’t do anything. I used to get called slurs and they didn’t do anything but if I ever swore at a teacher they would suspend you straight away.

In conclusion I don’t think you should go to this school as the the teachers can be very very disrespectful and manly because they don’t give a shit about their students and only care about representation for the school.

"Horrible Classmate!😡😡"

I think this school can add more rule, because I can notice the classmate like talking somethings that is irrelevant to the lessons to make lots of laughing noise and this always make me can't focus on the lessons!! I DON'T WANT TO MISS ANY IMPORTANT POINT IN THE GCSE TOPICS!!!
And I find them love rushing in the corridors and this makes me feel unsafe! I think they can calm down a little bit.
I think the teachers are very nice!!😊😊

"Awful school. "

Was significantly better as β€œHenbury school” teachers used to be much more kinder and sympathetic to children and their struggles. Unbelievably disappointed that the most recent year 11s ,especially considering the incredibly difficult past few years, didn’t even get a prom for no valid reason. Certainly wouldn’t recommend sending your child here.

"No Help"

Even as a top-grade student, most of my learning has to happen in my own time because the students are unruly and the difference in the levels of the brains of these students are so different that the teachers can't focus on the needs of the smarter students and have to just give us busy work. And, as an lgbtqia+ and neurodivergent student, I don't get the assistance I need, and the school can't use my preffered name and pronouns without parent permission, even though they know I have homophobic homes. Further more, I get bullied for this and the teachers don't even notice, yet they noticed when a shirt wasn't tucked in. During an actual fire, a fellow student of mine got told to stop and tuck in their shirts. There are some good aspects like the variety of clubs and leadership roles available, however the warnings are also too strict. 1 warning as you didn't put your pen down, a 2cnd because you drank a drink other than water during lesson time. All in all, I wouldn't suggest this school for many students, of any learning level as they focus on the top grades and general education rather than your mental wellbeing.

"Do not attend Blaise High School!"

do not attend this school from personal experience I am 16 and finally left this zoo, the school is packed there are so many people walking to their lesson it’s like walking throught a stampede, there are 830 students and the school is very small and does not have the right funding and motivation, I was not happy attending the school and I regret ever going there, take your kid from bristol to Orchard, or Bristol Free school with the right funding and capacity to supporr your child.. There has been some student incidents with teachers, a boy from the school when I was attending was assulted by a teacher I won’t say the name of which I heard, keeping them anonymous for legal reasons, some teachers are alright but some of them just do not know how to teach, since most teachers leave this school after being 1 year of working there, proves the school is just terrible. That incident of the assult of a student, I think the teacher has been fired or forced to resigned or moved to a different job of what I have heard from students that go there that teachers had stated, I also do not think they deal with bullying seriously, although im not a victim of bullying in the school I ahve witnessed it, studenrs are always picking on each other the teachers do not do anything, if something has been reported to a head of year of a bullying sotuation it isn’t dealt well. The school has its own warning system, 2 warnings and you go to isloation/ir but i think they recently changed it to SL/ Supervised Learning, I think it has improved a lot more, as if I did go there students would throw stuff accross the rooms, paper aeroplanes, pencils, rubbers. The warning system is too strict and too many people go to the SL/supervised learning. as teachers hand out warning for themost stupid things but I wont get into detail with that. The school focuses too much on behaviour and not the environment, safety and security, sasitfaction, the school was plain boring and, before the school was rebranded to Blaise High School I quit enjoyed it, now its very dull and depressing there was no motivation at all, I went on about 2 school trips the whole time attending the school.

"Aside from some chill teachers, a terrible school "

I typed up a review about the school but something went wrong with the website and it deleted it so heres a summery:
β€’the dress code to match the uniform is stupid, a friend of mine got sent home to change because their socks were grey instead of black. Also why aren't shoes with two velcro allowed? The only thing you have control over is your face and hair but even there it's hard to express yourself fully without getting into trouble
β€’they spout nonsense about being anti-bullying but when teachers see bullying they don't to anything about it
β€’the change from Henbury Secondary School to Blaise High School made it miles worse, it's now so much more strict and the school no longer cares about the mental well being of students and just prioritises education
β€’the school handled the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020 terribly. They kept saying they prioritised our (the students) health and safety during this but then proceeded to shove us all into really cramped corridors where transmission was bound to happen. Long story short there were waves of Self isolation because the school didnt handle it very well. They also called off the mandatory mask rule while tbe Covid-19 was still out and about quite a lot which led to another wave of self isolation that lasted until the summer holidays.
β€’The rooms stink
β€’some teachers are chill, they're the only reason I'm not giving this a one star

"Horrible school"

DON’T SEND YOUR CHILD HERE. The teachers don’t care about the students, in fact they bully the students and even let students bully each other They lie to get what they want, and if your child doesn’t fit in, they don’t care about them. One teacher who is ********* **** ****** *** *********, is just a nasty bully.

"Mixed Experience"

I have mixed feelings about my time at Blaise High School. While my child was happy there and made some great friends, I felt that some of the teachers were inconsistent in their teaching methods. The Ten Tors Navigation Training was a highlight, but I wished there had been more opportunities for parent involvement.

"Worst experience, Horrible!"

I was in this school when it changed from henbury to blaise high school. The Teacher never cared about anything apart from over using their power. Suply teachers Sent out all teachers for nothing. They said no bullying was tollerated which it happened all the time and nothing happened. When ever an encident happened the story always gets twisted by the teachers when you get the phone call. the teacher also made out that you have done something wrong however it works out to be that their was something that has happened for that thing to happen. The only Good teahcer in that school was MRS DAVIS she was a catering teacher and she actually listened and helped when needed! overall if my parents knew what it was like they would have taken me else where!
