"Focused on exam results not students well-being"

I was there for 3 years and it’s a very stuck up school with stuck up kids who believe they are better than others and the head is the worse. Only cares about results and statistics. The kids don’t matter. The low fruit can go. They have all these hats they wear which is ridiculous and it’s all a show for open day. Very elitist and very weird.

"Bad school "

Absolutely infuriating, this school is so bad, and I cannot even start to tell you about all the bad things in this school. Firstly, the school cares only about your appearance and your uniform and the first impressions that people will see of the school, they are stricter on this then they are at dealing with homophobia, sexism and racism at the school. There have been multiple fights during my years of being there, a few due to the results of racism or some other issues that the school doesn't resolve before it's too late. Secondly the education is absolutely awful, most lessons conclude of copying out words from textbooks which could be done at home or elsewhere, most teachers don't even have the knowledge or qualifications to teach their own subject and most of the time substitute teachers who have absolutely no knowledge are always made to take their lessons, and during this time it is a perfect opportunity for pupils to misbehave and act disrespectful. Also there have been multiple safety hazards at the school with students vaping or drinking in the toilets or students bringing in things that aren't allowed on school site such as knives or even stealing from shops in the community, and reports aren't taken seriously. Lastly the wellbeing / SEN are the worse, they never offer any support or help students with learning disabilities or those with poor mental health, most the time their excuses are just that they can't do anything about "it", or they act patronizing or strict in a sense which makes you feel like you can't go up to talk to any of them as they also act too important and full of themselves. On top of that, there are loads of students suffering with poor mental health as a result of the poor and highly inadequate support / (No support) and there have been multiple safeguarding cases in toilets which people aren't aware about. The school always says that they put the students' needs first, but they have never done that, always trying to make the school look good and stopping students from the freedom of speech. There have also been incidents in which the police have been involved with the school.

Overall, a few years ago the school was amazing but since a year ago everything has gone downhill due to lots of staff leaving, having to find replacements and having a bunch of students which they can't take care off. I personally wouldn't recommend this school for all the reasons above, most of the other reviews are based quite a while ago and this school has really changed since.

"The truth"

Enrichment days are often terrible, most teachers are alright, but a few bad and a couple good. The MFL department teaches the wrong parts of language that wouldn't be practical. Beyond year 9 maths isn't useful and English focuses on other people rather than teaching you how to write well. Most of the subjects won't be useful later on anyways but if you're looking for a place to be pressured into revising, with an unfair grading system and like one parents evening a year, here would be appropriate.

"Err.."

I’ve been at the school for a few years and I’m really looking forwards to leaving it in the next few years for sixth form, since year 7 it’s been a big rollercoaster with lots of different moods. Most of the teachers are great but some aren’t always the nicest and the education isn’t the best and most teachers have their own ways of teaching which doesn’t always make any sense so most students spend their own time studying instead of doing that at school. Most the facilities are kept pretty poorly and some behaviour of pupils can be really bad, there’s been multiple exclusions and lots of fights and some bullying and there’s a lack of support for students and their mental health. From a few years back the school was amazing but due to many good staff leaving the quality has gone downhill. It’s just a personal opinion though, others may thing differently but that’s just me :-)

"Amazing "

I have been at Barton court for a couple of years and I have made some amazing friends, learnt some amazing things and had loads of fun. Lockdown was tough for all of us but teachers made it fun and kept us motivated. I haven’t had any problems with the work because there is the perfect amount, not to much but enough to challenge me, and my year group is very close, no issues with bullying or anything because we are all friends and aren’t afraid of each other.
