Springwell Special Academy provides cross-phase education for Barnsley children with social, emotional and mental health difficulties. Our curriculum is guided by our vision and values, shaped by our school mission, and implemented to ensure every pupil can settle quickly and is supported to make good progress.

"Exceptional School for My Child"

My daughter has been at Springwell Special Academy for two years now and I couldn't be happier with the progress she's made. The teachers are wonderful and the facilities are excellent. I love how they prioritize kindness, courage, curiosity, and pride - it's clear that these values are embedded in everything they do.

"Supportive Environment"

My son has been at Springwell Alternative Academy for a year now and I've seen a huge improvement in his behavior and confidence. The staff are very supportive and the curriculum is engaging and challenging. I appreciate how they involve parents in the learning process - it makes me feel valued and included.

"Great Experience, Even with Challenges"

My child attended Springwell Special Academy for three years and while it wasn't always easy, the school was always supportive and accommodating. I appreciated how they worked with me to develop a tailored learning plan and how they encouraged my child's interests and passions. My only criticism is that the communication could be better, but overall, I'm grateful for the experience.

"Mixed Feelings"

I've had a bit of a mixed experience with Springwell Alternative Academy. On the one hand, the staff are very friendly and the facilities are nice. On the other hand, I've found the communication to be inconsistent and the curriculum sometimes feels a bit too focused on reading. I'm hoping that things will improve as my child gets older and settles in more.
