"I would NEVER recommend this school"

Completely unprofessional school who fail to deal with bullying and do not have their priorities in order. Students are sent home or put in isolation due to tiny details such as a simple ear piercing, regardless of whether they are taking a mock exam or real GCSE exam (this happened to my daughter). The students are punished, even if they do not misbehave and this has impacted many mental health issues on young people.

"If you can avoid this school. Please do. Staff are terrible!"

The worse school ever. Our child is at the school in. Y7 for little than 4 weeks.
No guidance to homework, lessons, teachers. All my child is now bothered about since starting is the food at break.
Half the time the kids don’t know if they do or don’t know about homework.
I asked them about their French homework they said, “what do I care, teacher will just think I am thick anyway. I said to teacher why do I need this and they just shrugged.” Lord give me strength. They said it just where all naughty kids go who go to school for an hour a day and hopes they get to do it. When I spoke to the school they accused me of being a liar!!!!! Great 5 yrs of this

"Some positives and areas for improvement"

We're generally happy with our experience at Outwood Academy Carlton, but there are a few areas where we think the school could improve. The curriculum is engaging and the school's emphasis on student well-being is great, but sometimes we feel that communication with parents could be better. We'd like to see more regular updates on our child's progress and more involvement in school decisions.

"Excellent teachers and facilities!"

Outwood Academy Carlton has exceeded our expectations. The teachers are supportive and passionate about their subjects, and the facilities are modern and well-maintained. My child has thrived in their classes and we're grateful for the opportunity to be part of this community.

"Transforming lives, indeed!"

Our child attended Outwood Academy Carlton from Year 7 to 11 and had an incredible experience. The values-driven approach and focus on student well-being really made a difference in their confidence and academic progress. We're so proud of the person they've become!

"My opinion!"

As far as teachers go, they’re SO nice. I have little teachers I dislike. The praise system is a bit corrupt as misbehaving kids get more praise for behaving than kids who behave every single lesson. Sure I may fly under the radar sometimes, but teachers know I work hard and I don’t get rewarded for it. It doesn’t bother me TOO much, but other people must be annoyed. And the same people get the awards all the time!

Fights happened almost every day a couple years ago but they’ve calmed down now and school did best they could to prevent them, but I think fights are more the responsibility of the students to sort out between themselves.

I’m autistic and the resource provisional unit is great! They really help me get the extra help I need but still let me be mainstream in the school. I don’t need a lot of help, but knowing I can access it when I need it is a relief!

Teachers need to do more to punish the kids that disrupt lessons. I know of one student that should’ve been permanently suspended by no!

Overall I think this school was a good choice for me as I wouldn’t like it in a mainstream school nor a specialist school, but there’s room for improvement!

"Review "

Not that great in the mental health department, they don’t give the amount of support needed however a lot of the teachers are lovely and great to work with and make the classroom environment fun. Some can make the environment negative when it comes to students misbehaving. When it comes to dealing with bullying.. they have a good system but a lot of the students don’t care about it and make jokes when they get detentions as if it’s a laughing matter.

"Outwood Academy Carlton Review"

Always at least one fight happening at lunch. If you get on with your work and don't mess around the teachers won't care about you. They say they care about student's mental health but don't do anything about bullying. Teachers favourite the students who misbehave and treat them so much better than everyone else. All they care about is the GCSE results to make the school look better.

"It’s ok!"

The teachers are wonderful, some of them are a pain at times to be fair, but they’re ok.

Students are a pain, there’s almost always an argument or a fight or something at Lunchtime

I just hope things change this year since it’s my last year
