About Holy Trinity Catholic and Church of England School

Holy Trinity Catholic and Church of England School is a unique coeducational all-through school for pupils aged 3 to 16, located on Carlton Road in Barnsley, South Yorkshire. It is the only purpose-built 3-16 Catholic and Church of England school in the UK, formed in 2012 by merging St Michaels Catholic and Church of England High School, Holy Cross Deanery Church of England Primary School, and St Dominic's Catholic Primary School. The school operates under the joint jurisdiction of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Hallam and the Church of England Diocese of Leeds. It moved into a new building adjacent to the old high school site upon formation. The school is part of the Hallam Schools Partnership Academy Trust since converting to an academy in 2018 after being placed in special measures in 2017. The curriculum and ethos reflect its dual faith foundation, providing a distinctive religious and academic education. Facilities are modern and purpose-built to support a wide age range of students, and the school has a history linked to the local community and Catholic education dating back to the 19th century.

"School has gone downhill, poor communication"

I was a student of Holy Trinity and left in 2016, my experience there was 50:50. Wasn't the best but wasn't the worst, I've had my fair share of poor experiences at this school but I still had some fond memories there. However, after hearing how my relatives are currently experiencing Holy Trinity has really disgusted me. I'm not sure what's happened to Holy Trinity for it to go really downhill but they really neglect their students now and are absolutely terrible for communication. Teachers are happy to give their students nonstop detentions but refuse to communicate with parents over the phone. It's such a shame what this school has come to.

"Spectacular!"

I think this year Holy Trinity has very good teachers. Take your kids to this school for good life skills and good opportunities. If you come, you won't want to leave! Well done to Mrs Oldcorn for hiring such smart and kind teachers. ๐Ÿ˜‡ The school also does fun activities such as staff karaoke to raise money to charity's and does science experiments which the science teachers go out of their way to get equipment for as they want us to learn the best way possible ๐Ÿ˜‡ The school is also really clean and has 5 star food. I am so lucky to be a student at this school!

"Lack of help"

When I attended this school I was made out to be a bad kid when really I just had a learning disability. In year 8 they noticed some traits however didn't do anything about it. In year 9, they opened up an Early Help Assesment where they said all my problems started at home. This was wrong. Once my mum had filled her part of the EHA in it was said to her that this was just kept on file however when we looked into this it should have been sent off to a professional as soon as it was filled in delaying the help I could have received during my time at Holy Trinity. I had a meeting with an Educational Physiologist who just wrote about the things we already knew. During Year 10, I was permanently excluded from Holy Trinity due to standing behind a fire door "risking people's health" there was no fire or emergency. A teacher asked me to open the door whilst shouting which I wont respond to due to me not being able to cope with a high tone. Another teacher came and said calmly can you open the door please due to him not shouting I opened the door. Throughout my time at Holy Trinity I felt bullied by the staff there and often felt worthless whilst at that school. Since starting at Springwell , with the right support, I am now the better version of myself I am involved with the police and fire cadets and am also on track for good GCSE grades. I feel as though if I had the right support at Holy Trinity which I desperately needed I would have made it until the end of Year 11.
