"My terrible time at horizon"

This school is the worst school I’ve had the dishonour of attending I put my heart and soul into being on time for this school and it fucked me over so hard I thought I just left the matrix when walking out of those school doors at the end of year 11 the wellbeing system is a pile of shit it took me snorting 3 packs of Parma violets having a mental breakdown talking about killing myself and saying I think my dad doesn’t love me to get a proper slither of health I will adress one of the students by name because it needs to be said

Ryan fletcher was the worst student they could’ve defended I was sexually assaulted by this man people have been jumped by him and bullied by him endlessly all because the school gave him this invincible feeling because he was a foster care student someone else was abused by their own father and Ryan had taken that as his ticket to bully this girl to within an inch of her catatonic life and if the teachers even bother to notice what’s happening if you defend yourself your the villain for it so you just have to take a beating in order to be the victim if you raise a molecule on your body your the bad guy because this school doesn’t have the decency to tell right from wrong the best example I can think of to describe the schools anti bullying system is the scene from walking dead season 5 when dawn says to Beth “if he tries to rape you again don’t fight back just let him do it” CUZ THAT IS WHAT THIS IS IN ORDER TO GET JUSTICE TO BE SERVED IN THAT GODDAMN SCHOOL YOU NEED TO BASICALLY TAKE A BEATING IF YOU READ THIS REVIEW DO NOT SEND YOUR KIDS TO THIS SCHOOL SEND THEM SOMEWHERE ELSE BECAUSE YOUR CHILD WILL NOT BE CARED FOR THEY WILL END UP COMING HOME EITHER BATTERED AND BRUISED OR IN A COFFIN SO DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD TO THIS SCHOOL

"absolutely shit school."

i am a year 9, and its hell here. PARENTS, DONT SEND YOUR KIDS HERE. UNLESS YOU WANT THEM TO DIE FOR NO ONE CARING ABOUT THEM. KEEP YOUR KIDS MENTAL HEALTH SAFE. listen, all of the school onlky cares about you being "successful" in life, and gives absolutely NO SHITS FOR STUDENT WELLBEING. i remember being bullied in year 8, and i kept sending reports on the students, and after a few day i finally get pulled out, just to be told that "he has done nothing wrong, so please stop sending in reports." i dont know how i even managed to survive that year without school assistance. and now, i just try to push on through days with severe mental problems. i tried wellbeing again, but all they do is give you a short break, and that is it. heck, you cant even go to wellbeing now without a FUCKING PASS. so please, for the love of god, DDONT COME INTO THIS SHIT HOLE.

"Absolutely vile school."

Getting one star like most of the hoes in dress to impress, horrible school, horrible teachers unless you were a knob then they would praise u for wiping your own arse, so many students slip thru the cracks and the smell is worse than the human centipede part two.

"very good better than my previous experience at high school"

i used to go to Darton and as someone that moved at the start of the school year i would say my intelligence, wellbeing, social life have improved drastically the room system takes a while to get used to but after a while it is second nature the outside spaces are better and bigger the inside spaces are packed with rubbish and random disgusting things i have to admit that aspect is better at darton and so are the teachers I'm not sure if this is my nostalgia talking but the teachers are more supportive and memorable i have only had a few meals here but the bread is stale and other products are low quality the amount of enrichment is insane from gym to chess club it is truly amazing it is hard to access school info it is there but not easy to get to

"AVOID AVOID AVOID"

Horrendous school, teachers a pathetic and call home for the smallest of incidents. This school expects you to answer calls and drop everything to suit the needs of the school, not forgetting that parents also have jobs. However if you’re wanting to get in touch with them then you have to wait days for a response. Children are treated as a number not a human being and all this school are bothered about is grades.

"My review for horizon cc I believe it is really good"

I went to another secondary school previously and I'm not sure why many others despise this school I'm sure they have their problems with it I was put off coming here because off this negativity radiating from it but it was amazing most teachers are nice support is available and education is impeccable the only problem I have with it is medical as I was on my tour of the school the teacher supervising us said and I quote "that is medical were we check if your just trying to have a day off or actually sick" I went to medical because I had a really bad headache after repeated passing out through the week and they told me to leave and go back to class after nothing of help didn't even contact parents and there was another incident with after school clubs and I was going to a club which was never mentioned as being cancelled on the first day I was trying it I have never tried to go to another one because of the embarrassment and time wasted

"No communication "

My eldest son is bright, polite and full of energy - he has left this school with very little to show for his outstanding attendance record. So what happens in the classrooms? What goes on in the leadership meetings? We had good feedback at parents evenings - no communication or hint from school that his results were heading for failure. The irony is our son was awarded teacher awarded grades!? Were the staff involved cover or temporary? The covid years were chaotic absence, temporary cover etc - but where was our phone call and feedback? As a family we are full of regret at our choice. This school obviously does not offer enough (or any?) support to students potentially slipping through the cracks.

"Shameful "

If I could give no stars I would. Unsupportive teachers and bullying. Had terrible affect on my child's mental health. When you complain they promise changes and make plans for the child but they never come to anything . Absolutely pitiful. This school should be closed down. They are only interested in attendance results not what problems are causing it.

"Lazy staff and terrible students."

Almost all the students there treated me badly for no apparent reason, calling me names, shoving me around, and the staff did nothing about it.

Whenever I strike someone back only to defend myself, the staff saw me being in the wrong for getting angry, saying I should never resort to violence even though they never do anything to stop it. Where's the logic in that?

Ignoring the other students only made things worse, and so was standing up for myself. And which Barnsley council member thought it was a good idea to put a secondary school on the middle of one of the main roads in Barnsley?

"Absolutely dreadful"

Nobody cares about your mental health. They only care about your attendance. My grandma died and they said they would do something the day after but guess what. They never did. You’re only allowed to wellbeing if you have a pass.

"Excellent Education, Great Facilities!"

My daughter loves going to Horizon Community College! The staff are always supportive and the facilities are top-notch. I've seen her grow and develop as a confident young person, and that's all thanks to the school's emphasis on personal development and careers advice. We're so grateful to be a part of the Horizon community!

"Outstanding Education and Values!"

My son went to Horizon for four years and I couldn't be happier with the education and values he received. The staff are passionate and committed to helping students achieve their full potential. The school's focus on Equity of Opportunity, Strong Community, High Expectations, Global Readiness and Kindness really shines through in the way students are treated and supported. We're so proud to have been a part of the Horizon family!

"Great Experience So Far!"

My daughter is in her second year at Horizon and we're really happy with the school so far. The teachers are great, the facilities are modern and well-maintained, and the extra-curricular activities are plentiful. We do think the school could improve in terms of communication with parents, but overall we're pleased with the education she's receiving.

"Some Positives, Some Negatives"

We're still getting used to the school, but so far we're mixed about our experience. The staff seem nice and the facilities are okay, but we've had some issues with communication and the curriculum seems a bit confusing at times. We're hoping things will improve as the year goes on, but for now we're taking a wait-and-see approach.
