Penyrheol Comprehensive School

My school experience was really tough. I was bullied every day, and it made me feel worthless and alone. The bullying got so bad that I started hurting myself to cope with the pain. Even though I tried to get help, the teachers did nothing. One teacher even grabbed me, but they only got a warning. It felt like no one cared, and everything just got harder to handle.

Hello, I am a student in penyrheol comprehensive. I will not give my name but this school sucks. They don’t care about our mental health at all. I keep getting bullied and these teachers say they will sort it out but they don’t! I can’t believe that I have to go to this school. This school is draining my life. I am in year 7 and started in September! And it’s already ruining my life. People are making fun of me because of my last name. And teachers aren’t doing anything? This school is the worst! And we also have the new virus HMPV and the head teacher doesn’t care and the cold oh my goodness!

This place has destroyed my mental health. I have gone to my head of year multiple times to report sexual assault and I have just been shrugged off each time and been told “boys will be boys”. Please, if you care about your children’s mental stability, do not send them to this school. The only reason I stick around is for the school shows and my friends, and even then, I don’t have many reasons. The way the other students treat you if you’re even slightly different is horrible, I myself am a transgender male and that’s made me be horrifically bullied throughout my years here, to the point I have attempted to take my own life. The workload is overwhelming, and when you talk about it, they brush it off as you being lazy. I am easily made ill, and unfortunately this has already made me miss many days this school year (it is currently September 27th). I miss announcement of homework tasks, therefore not knowing I have it, and I end up in detention for being unwell and not being notified of homework. They lock the toilets during school hours, they claim it is to stop vandalism, but there was rarely any vandalism in the first place. The SLT are so rude, I was in the bathroom midway through a class (I have a time out pass, and was allowed by my teacher to leave) and I get questioned on why I was in there and rudely told to hurry up. The blatant disregard of students mental health is appalling, they lead you on to think they care but they do not. The in school counselling service waiting list is so long. I applied for it in Year 7 and still have not been seen and I am in Year 10. I don’t think I’ll be seen before I leave.
It’s self sacrifice for 5 years just to receive a paper that determines if you’re good enough to sustain a stable job:

it’s bad tbh, don’t go here the teachers can’t handle situations correctly. im autistic and I was refusing to go to class and my head of year just forced me to go. I walked out of the class and had slt called on me and once they found me I got screamed at which triggered a panic attack and causing me to go semi-verbal. don’t send your children here if you want them to leave school happy.
also, if you are currently at this school I’d advise you to stay away from the milkshakes. I drank one and it was sour.

fucking shit don’t go here this school will screw you up mentally and WILL NOT respect your human rights. Toilets are always locked during lesson, they say it’s because of vandalism but the toilets are not vandalised or anything. They shout at you for being at your head of years office during class even if you’re having a panic attack or throwing up. RE teachers need to sort their fucking heads out allowing a child to get sexually assaulted and shouting at him for moving seats. They never let you drink water and if you do it gets confiscated. Only good thing about this place is the food and art rooms. Heed my warning do not send your kids here / go here.

The majority of teachers are very nice and the lessons are interesting

Litter constantly all over the place
Toilets vandialised often
Covid regulations are never inforced
Food isn’t very nice most days
Teachers are not good at handiling most situations
Bullying is a huge issue at this school and is rarely delt with
Heads of year and deputy heads never ring back after issues only listen when threatened to go to the educational board. Lessons often disturbed by other pupils and action is rarely taken to stop it

Staff are ******** * *****and don’t handle situations well but yeha it’s alright

Probably one of the worst experiences of my life, staff couldn’t understand mental health problems, didn’t care how students felt nor give a single sh!t about student safety. It was so bad I came in stoned half the time, would rather be sent to a fucking concentration camp, especially that miss fucking dyche/ miss Lewis woman, don’t let your children around her, she will stalk a minority of children , it got to the point where I honestly would have been arrested for assault if I had to stay around that devil woman, she makes Satan look like a saint , hope she sees this , the only one who I got along with was a maths teacher and a new deputy head , other than that really evaluate where you put your children, bullying is horrendous

the environment at the school is very welcoming. the work can sometimes be hard to finish but that’s usually down to the other classmates in the room.
