The popular private primary options are Gatehouse School (has multiple school buses that run through the Isle of Dogs), St Paul's Cathedral School (if you work in the city) and the Blackheath schools (but commute is a pain).

"Very impressed with the teaching"
When we had family in the Citry it was St Paul's Cathedral school and then the plan was City of London after but then they moved. It is hard to get into St Paul's Cathedral school (this is not St Paul's school itself which is nothing to do with it) but it is a really nice prep school.
