A French head of a boys' prep school told me children at French schools are about 18 months behind those at English prep schools by age 11. That reflects different pacing rather than a quality gap, but it is something to know if you're considering a French primary.

My son went from a French primary to English secondary and he's been more than fine. He hated the rigidity of French primary but is much happier and more engaged in his new school.

It is very French — quite intensive, combining the French curriculum with English components. The IB-level French education focus is real.
