"Great improvements and environment"

I have spent 5 years at this school and it has a lovely community of teachers, most teachers are experienced and good at what they do, for example my English, chemistry and maths teachers were very helpful in getting me the top band grades (9-7) in GCSEs, but honestly some teachers weren’t clear or knowledgeable, like physics, where I had to teach myself content. I believe the pastoral team are good and empathic at handling mental health issues, for example support with grievances or eating disorders, however some situations where there are racist remarks or fall outs within students can sometimes go unresolved.
The school has made good efforts with diversity where we have assemblies for other cultural celebrations e.g. black history month, Chinese lunar new year, Ramadan/Eid, they have a equality and diversity club and also did a ‘who do you think you are?’ Week alongside a culture day to explore student’s heritage, there is support with SEND students. Subjects offered are more varied than other schools particularly in 6th form e.g. film studies, criminology that other schools don’t have. Something Longdean could integrate to support education in 6th form is more emails, links to summer schools, work experience, volunteering opportunities or more student led societies/clubs where students where they can choose which ones to apply for/make. Lunch food is a bit expensive.

"Not the school to send you children to"

Throughout my time in longdean I feel as if the staff keep aiming things on me and being horrible to me i have been in particular situations where i feel as if the school could have taken more control. The staff work so hard in becoming teachers just to have awful attitude. I feel as if children’s mental state deteriorates when in these types of schools

"Legendary days of longdean"

I can remember being back here in 2002 and all I can say is it was rough as houses , I remember the head teacher getting knocked out by a local gypsy , English teachers getting sacked cos he always drunk a flask of whiskey in English class , science teachers who were in the Falklands war with bullet wounds in their ass eventually getting done for maturbating on school grounds , so many Asians you wuda thought u was in bagdad , teachers letting us smoke out the door in science class , pervert teachers being confronted by young girls for looking at their asses , but yeh apart from that it was a great place to go to school and I guess if your pretty common yourself it was a pretty a pretty decent school tbf , I remember our head master finding a stash of beer in a box in the bush on prom and literally smashing every bottle In the staff car park literally peppering the car park with bottles of Budweiser with no consideration to the parked cars who had to get out

"Do not come here it’s horrific "

It’s so bad. The teachers here don’t care about mh and shout at kids for having anxiety/Panick attacks they don’t educate their self’s on thinks like dyslexia autism and ticks n they are homophobic n say things like the f slur they can’t control kids n sometimes they don’t even give us textbooks to wright in n expect us js to remember everything. Some of the students here are so nasty and the food here is way to expensive and bad. I warn u you should not come to this school it will be so draining for u

"Distasteful and selfish school"

As an ex student of the school for 6 years I have to say I wish I left in my earlier years. The teachers use inappropriate language towards the students no matter the age and talk to them as if they are adults calling children wankers and the like.
The school deal with racism horribly and sweep it under the rug during my time there I can remember more than 10 racism issues between teachers and students and there has been no closure or resolutions. Some staff have been openly racist toward students and students get blamed as a quick way to resolve. If your child has mental health problems this school will put themselves first and not care they only care about attendance and how the school looks rather than the well fare of the students. A institution that seriously has gone downhill I would not recommend this school.

"Awful "

The teachers are very rude to students and use inappropriate language frequently. Never in my life I have had a problem but my child comes home to say a teacher has swore at them or used inappropriate language towards them. The school does not help with mental health either they only care about your child having 100% attendance and they disregard any other issues. Dissatisfied is how I feel. Teachers have been known to be racist openly towards students and they sweep it under the rug
