About Marlborough Primary
Marlborough Primary School, located near Agincourt Road in Roath, Cardiff, was established in its current form on 1st September 2011 following the amalgamation of Marlborough Infant School and Marlborough Junior School. However, the school has served the Penylan and Roath communities since 1900, originally opening as Marlborough Road School in January 1900. The school buildings are a blend of traditional Victorian, 1950s post-war, and modern architecture, including a Nursery unit, six Foundation Phase classes, nine Key Stage 2 classes, and two Specialist Resource Base classes. Facilities include two large halls, a learning intervention room, and extensive outdoor learning environments. The school emphasizes a mission of "Aiming for Excellence" and a strategic vision to maintain high performance and excellence in teaching and learning. The school offers a rich curriculum with a focus on pupil-led learning and community engagement, exemplified by immersive historical projects such as transforming the school environment to reflect 1939 wartime conditions. This approach fosters active learning and connects students with local history. The school has approximately 60 children per year group, with some variations, and a Nursery offering part-time places for up to 64 children. All classes are taught by fully qualified teachers supported by teaching assistants and specialist staff, including a full-time art teacher.
