Harper Green School

Tried emailing and calling the school but had no luck. They prefer to talk to the students rather than parents/guardians, which comes across as very unprofessional. They wouldn’t let my student pick her desired GCSE subjects and wouldn’t let her change it. They seem to be a lot more focused on the uniform rather than the education which is absurd to me, because how is the yellow thread on DocMartens frowned upon, it’s a thread for crying out loud!! This school is honestly terrible, please save your child and don’t enrol at Harper Green Secondary School.

Year 5 & 6 parents, id reconsider your child’s secondary school. Harper Green school, is not the one. That’s unless you’re okay with them using food as a form of punishment. Yes that’s right they will take away your child’s basic human right to have a lunch, if they are late!! Teachers think this is acceptable because it’s in harper green school policy. Yet they’d soon be punishing your child further, if students wernt working to their standards in class, given that food is fuel!!

Child abusers every single one of them that follow this diabolical policy!!

Alot of the teachers will speak to you in a horrible way, they say they're all about mental health but in reality they pick favourites and focus on them (either popular kids or smart kids the rest of us are left to struggle) they make you feel stupid and little if you dont know something and will say stuff like "its common sense" well its not is it mate because its stuff you're meant to teach us. Strict rules and it is extremely unhygienic. Lots of people say the teachers make their issues feel unimportant and in my personal experience i was literally ignored all the time. All the staff are very unprofessional, unkind, unfriendly and straight up rude and disrespectful, whether it's a teacher, dinner lady, toilet lady, anyone in this horrible school or hell even!! Every child cant wait to leave this place!! If you want to make someone suffer ferociously then send them here otherwise DONT!!!! They keep calling your parents for no reason and when you ask them why they called, they hang up, ignore or just dont answer. So annoying and terrible.

So bad, probably the worst school in history to be honest. The teachers dont help and aren't friendly, neither are the students/pupils or any other staff. Honestly, people aren't wrong when they say this is a terrible school but there is some wrong which is that it is more than just terrible. Bad education, rules, everything. Most the students break all the rules and nobody even says anything, the staff and teachers dont care, they don't give one whatsoever. The good pupils dont even get rewarded for being good but all the bad kids get rewarded all the time for doing bad constantly. The food is off, expired everyday and the lunch ladies are the worst, they have no respect whatsoever for anything, like we as students literally pay them and they dont even care, most of the time they just reject from serving food. The year team says that they will always be there for you and help you but never ever do, you will be so brave so finally open up to them and they just ignore it fully or start screaming at you in front of the entire year group. They dont even trust us in the toilets, they take our bags before going in and all the toilet and sinks are broken which never get fixed, like ever, the bulling never stops so dont even bother asking about it and they steal everything from students without guilt or any regret without even asking the pupil if they could take it or not, they do whatever they want! Without doubt, the worst school in history of schools. AND THIS IS 100% THE TRUTH, coming from a student who has been here for their whole high school life.

I am a former student from many years ago when this school was very good. I sent my daughter and son, my daughters experience was ok, my sons was terrible, they accused him of stealing a coat when he arrived to school in a new coat! actually rang his dad to check if we had a receipt! which of course we did, they put him isolation for not having a pen, then didn’t give him any work to do, they constantly spoke down to him, i went in for several meetings and when i challenged their behaviour towards my son i got ignored, after every meeting you get a copy of the notes, that are incorrect as it only states what they have said. I have 2 more sons which i refused to allow them to even apply for harper green. Very disappointing how bad the school has declined, teachers, especially senior teachers are rude, condescending and bullies.

Absolutely shocking school no communication between teachers and parents. If your child is naughty they remove the privilege of your child getting there dinner! Unless you complain then they have to be escorted by a teacher. Actually shocking do not send your child to this school

This school caused me a lot of mental health problems that I never got over. The teachers are bullies and referred to my sister as fat to my face, I was physically dragged back onto school property on my way home because I had my coat on and it was “against the rules”. I was publicly humiliated on a daily basis in front of my peers by being forced to prove that I wasn’t wearing foundation to cover my spots, even when i hadn’t I would have to stand in front of my class and scrub at my face with a baby wipe until the teacher was satisfied, I wore foundation because I was bullied relentlessly for my acne and when I reported it nothing was done by staff so I tried to conceal it to minimise my torment. I was isolated for having knee high socks on as it was “sexually distracting for the male teachers and students”. They claim to support students individuality but banned everything down to specific haircuts. We had to stand outside in the rain in alphabetical order lines like the military during fire practise, sometimes for multiple hours because one person 40 rows away was talking so we were punished. The things I witnessed happening to students in that school was like something from a horror film. You are told that all the rules are to help you go into the working world but I haven’t gone into one workplace that doesn’t allow makeup, coloured hair, alternative clothing etc. My grades showed that I was expected to go to university and do very well in life but Harper Green school destroyed my confidence and my mental health and I was unable to even finish sixth form due to the trauma I was left with. If you want your children to do well in life send them anywhere else but Harper green.

this school is very bad because of its environment. people are vaping and swearing and teachers don't even know

We've been thoroughly impressed with Harper Green School. The facilities are top-notch, and our child loves the dance and drama studio. The values of the school really shine through in the way the teachers and staff support the children.

Harper green school is a Great school. However, some students misbehave, which was pretty annoying but most students are well-behaved and well-mannered. The way that harper green manages with miss behaved students is brilliant, they do not tolerate kids that misbehave. The teacher's work is consistent, their effort is fantastic, also very supportive and they are always open to help you when you're stuck. Harpergreen school evolved a lot in the past 5 years. I was a student at harper green school and I've grown into a determined hard worker. Before I left harper green I never really understood the WE ARE HARPER VALUES. But that quickly changed at my leaver's assembly, harper green doesn't only teach u how to do mathetics and meaning being a Shakespeare quote, they teach you how to cope with life when it gets hard, and that we, we as harper green students should be resilient and not give up.

This school tends to care more about their image than the welfare of their students.

We chose Harper Green for its strong academic reputation, and we're so far pleased with the progress our child has made. The teachers are always available to discuss their child's progress, and the extra-curricular activities are a great way to enrich their learning experience.

We're still getting to know the school, but so far we're a bit mixed about the experience. The facilities are impressive, but communication with the teachers could be better. Fingers crossed it will get better as the year goes on.

My child thrived at Harper Green, thanks to the supportive and challenging environment provided by the teachers and staff. The school's values of discovery and ambition really resonated with us, and we're grateful for the opportunities they provided.

I've been getting bullied and they didn't do anything at all and what pisses me off the most is when the teachers don't listen and deal with shit also they sent me home cuz the thought someone had covid and I was a close contact and now they want me too come back on the last two days of the term which is just Soo annoying like let me just stay home now cuz there's just two days left. Also they dont care about your health

No, I did not see the teachers have much interest in the subjects they teach and in the students they teach.
