"Avoid this School"

Abbeyfield School is not an environment I would recommend. I continue to have problems with the head master and have ongoing complaints with the school.

"This isn't a school, it's fight club"

This school doesn't take bullying seriously. I have been trying to work with the school since my child started last year. The staff, teachers either refuses or simply does nothing about bullying they'll allow it to continue until your child is self harming.

The school has NEVER contacted the parent of the child who assaulted my daughter. The police ended up having to. If your child refuses to attend school due to the trauma that has happened towards them don't expect any help or education to be set for your child. I was told it is apparently illegal to do this. So my child come monday has had 19 absent days with no alternative provision being done.

Save youself trouble and send your child elsewhere. My child hasn't even been seen to by the SEN team.

On another note, if your child is bullied relentlessly instead of taking action they'll say it's her fault for reacting to it. Harassing a student to the point they are violent is perfectly acceptable too. Then proceed to blame that child who was bullied into violence.

"good enough"

the only 3 decent members of staff such as the 2 deputy heads and year 9 pastoral they are the only members of staff that seem to react to problems when students need the help. Most teacher pick on the same students 24/7 for things that some students can’t help eg sit still, remain focus. never aloud to go to the toilet the new rules are stupid getting warnings for coughing, asking why you got a warning. students expected to go outside in the rain in a shirt to get food because they won’t give you your hoodies back for lunch or break. Teachers are always looking miserable. need to get rid of the current head teacher and make 1 of the deputy heads the head teacher

"absolutely shocking"

my personal experience at this school has been... average, fortunately the teachers i have had in my past 3-4 years being at this school have (most of them) been kind, caring, sweet and lovely. however i cant say the same for other teachers, some have no compassion, no decency or any respect for the students they are teaching and demand that they recieve it, then go onto complain when a student makes a minor mistake. the rules and how they are enforced in this school are absolutely shocking, especially with the "new" rules (cant cough without getting a warning) the canteen food is so expensive and has gone up since i first started here. the school does nothing against bullying and they do little to help students with mental health, expecting a pat on the back for doing the bare minimum. i have been friends with multiple people who have had their mental health worsened by the "help" of the school, only having to move away instead. multiple times have i myself been to, or been with someone to student support to report an incident and they have done nothing about it

"Nice School, Room for Improvement"

I've been generally pleased with Abbeyfield School so far. The facilities are great, and the staff seem friendly and approachable. However, I've noticed that communication with parents could be better, and I've had a few issues with the Edulink system. My child seems to be enjoying their time at the school, and I appreciate the school's efforts to promote the values of respect, resilience, and responsibility.

"Excellent School Experience"

I am thoroughly impressed with Abbeyfield School. My child has grown and developed so much since joining the school, and I credit the excellent teaching staff and facilities for this. The school's values of respect, resilience, and responsibility are clearly embedded in everything they do, and my child has developed a strong sense of these values. I highly recommend Abbeyfield to any parent looking for a supportive and nurturing environment for their child.

"would not recommend"

absolutely rampant for homophobia, transphobia, sexism, racism, etc. teachers will continually claim to do something, however nothing ever comes of it. attempts at inclusion are misguided at best and misleading at worst. during pride month (june) i have had rocks and nails thrown at me, myself and friends have been bombarded by footballs when doing absolutely nothing but each our lunch. i have had former friends (who were then dating) say that they were asked "who wears the strap" by boys in their class. absolutely no problem outing trans students in spite of danger — myself included. upon expressing concern about being outed, i was given a deadline and told a story about a student in the year below me who had been accepted by their parents. every coming out experience is apparently a monolith, and concern over it will be met with extremely uncaring reactions. we have had issues with a particular boy asking girls and feminine students for nude pictures, writing erotic fanfiction about an ex-girlfriend of his. fifteen or so people came to report this (all at once) we were sat in a room and told to leave if our experiences were not "that bad". the school's policies on things such as bullying, homophobia, etc are all talk with no action. things/people can be reported multiple times and they won't even face a detention, while students receive isolation (or, as they call it, "reset") for much less. individual teachers are great but not redeeming enough for this review to be more positive.

"Bad school!"

Bad food seeing as we are still paying customers, bad teachers mainly who can’t even teach their own subject correctly, bad staff, and unnecessary rules and regulations since covid, handled the whole lockdown working really badly as well.

"A Big Family and Great Community"

I have nothing but fond memories of my time at Abbeyfield. The staff were always supportive and went above and beyond to ensure my child's success. The school's curriculum was engaging and relevant, and my child loved taking part in the various extracurricular programs. The facilities were also excellent, with a great range of resources and equipment. I'm so grateful to have had my child attend Abbeyfield!

"Do not recommend "

The lack of care about bullying or education is austonishing. I'm year 11 and never got proper help for bullying wich I've been experiencing since primary but id always get help. In abbeyfield they believe the bullys story over the victimms. mental health care they're is ridiculousthey'll mark u down as high risk and never follow up if the counsellor deems you okay which is really easy to fake she'll let you go off like nothings been wrong. Also if u ask for extra help most teachers wont give you it they'll just give you the same work in the exact same way and leave you to figure it out yourself. And pandemic restrictions are not being inforeced almost no one wears a mask social distancing between year groups and in classes/break and lunch is non existent the teachers do nothing to help other then a few only 2 that I know of. I could go on honestly Abbeyfield is a mess. I have never felt safe they're and am so glad I am leaving in june/july
