"My experience"

I dropped out of ash manor halfway through year seven due to lack of support and how overwhelming it is. This is NOT a school for nurodivergent people or people who struggle with mental health issues. They do NOT care. If you're parents and therapist/psychiatrist tell them what they need to do to make it more enjoyable for you, they ignore it and thrn go on to say you haven't told them how they can help. They are liars, all of them and I wish very badly that this school could be closed or under new staff. So many of my friends have had awful experiences, too. Do better.

"Ash manor school"

This school is so terrible I had to move my daughter schools because she was getting bullied every single day she is only 11 years old and had a-lot of random people coming up to her being horrible. Not to long ago a couple of teenagers broke into the school and
Assaulted a young boy. Staff are rude to the children at the school and treat them like they’re older and don’t have feelings.

"DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD HERE!!!"

This is undoubtedly the worst school I have ever ever come across in my whole entire life. They give out punishment after punishment without even looking into things properly. They don't ever respond to emails, they don't care about anything the children have to say. The headteacher sits in her office sipping tea while another parent is at the office desk begging to see her after her daughter was being bullied so HORRIFICLY she attempted to take her own life. This school is outrageous and I can only say AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! Unless you want your child to lose their spark, hate life, hate school, and turn into a shell of themselves.

"1-hour detention for forgetting her notebook."

My 11-year-old daughter received a 1-hour detention for forgetting her notebook. I fear for the safety of all the children at Ash Manor School. Education professionals believe that punishing a child is educating. I would like my daughter to attend a safe school. I would like someone to help me find a secondary school that respects the natural development of the child.

"Outstanding School"

Fantastic school, both my children went to Ash Manor and left it with fantastic GCSE grades so I am a very happy parent. The Headteacher is 100% dedicated to the school and the teachers are brilliant. Outstanding school.

"This school is not good"

Very disturbing and disappointing. The headteacher Ms Bailey is so rude and disrespectful. Some of them are nice teachers but mostly are very moody, unprofessional and rude. Worse school

"Outstanding School"

Both my children went to Ash Manor School in the last 7 years and I highly recommend this school. They liked the teachers very much and in my opinion the headteacher is the most committed and dedicated professional I ever came across. I cannot thank them enough for everything they did to my children.

"The teachers bully more than the kids"

Ash manor is one of the worst schools I've ever known. The teachers get paid overtime/half for every hour detention and unsurprisingly they have over 50 students in 1 of 3 rooms each night.

They have cameras in the toilets which is Shorley against any kind of law and they give 1 hour detentions if a student forgets a pen. That is non negotiable and if they forget a pen in detention they will then fail that detention and have to do a 2 hour detention the day after. They lie about having this regiem/ideology in there rules section and also do not make any concessions for children with special needs.

This school needs to be shut down and in my opinion investigated the highest level.

"Racist "

If I could give This school -1 rating I would. The school and headteacher are incredibly racist. White kids can call their black peers niggers and get away with it. If the Black pupil reacts they get all the punishment. It’s ridiculous it’s 2023 and this is the message that the school teaches

"brilliant 10/10 school🤣😐"

honestly they dont care about you its whether ur late or not you could be being bullied, racially profiled, experiencing homophobia they dont care they say they dont tolerate it but they dont they turn a blind eye one guy called me the N word n got nothing when i reported and u get sanctions for evening havjng the slightest but of social life u could be playing fighting w your friends and they give detentions even if u explain to them also the favoritism with autistic kids i understand how autism can affect people differently and why they may need extra chances or breaks out side trips to SEN but the blatant rudeness and disrespect that wouldnt be tolerated were it anyone else get overlooked or just a "verbal warning" not that it does anything

"Dont send your kids here"

Horrible school, one teacher tried to encourage girls to m*sterb*te on their periods and have s*x (keyword girls, we were young and shouldn't've be egged on to do these stuff by an adult, its gr**ming) same teacher said the n-word and said that the people coming down the stairs sounded like Africans. They allow other kids to bully eachother, one girl had to leave because she was harassed every day and the school didnt care nor punish the bullys, one girl was jumped by 5 other girls and instead of them being in trouble, the VICTIM was excluded for intimidation and harassment... They allow staff with bad pasts to work there aswell and teachers are constantly making dirty jokes with the children.

"Excellent School Experience"

We've been at Ashley Manor for 3 years now and I've seen our child flourish. The facilities are top-notch and the staff are incredibly supportive. They really do live by their values of kindness and respect, and you can see the impact on the children.

"Unsupportive, rude and only attendance orientated"

Throughout the years I attended Ash Manor, I received very little support regarding my anxiety, depression and other mental health issues. On the rare occasions that I would need to leave the site because I was so overwhelmed, I’d be told that I wasn’t allowed to leave because of my attendance, while other’s with higher attendance could. This not only took place when I was experiencing anxiety, but even during COVID 19. I explained to reception that I had been in contact with someone experiencing symptoms and they refused to let me leave, despite sending home other students who simply claimed to have a cough. I was also rudely confronted on multiple occasions about my self harming and pressured to show my cuts to staff members even though I’d vocalised multiple times how uncomfortable it made me feel. I received little support to work from home on days when I was struggling, and the school completely refused to send me my work. It felt as though I was being punished for something I couldn’t control. The school’s behaviour became so out of control that CAMHS became involved and multiple meetings took place in which the school continued arguing with CAMHS about allowing me to submit work from home for a mere two weeks.
I also feel that the quality of education I received was poor. Although certain teachers valued their students and put all of their effort into each lesson, others failed to effectively communicate with students, and didn’t try to meet our needs. I have experienced a teacher throwing a book at my head unprovoked, staff excessively swearing during lessons, a teacher who repeatedly called our class “special needs” as an insult, and more. During a year 9 English class, white students were also permitted and even encouraged to speak the N word and other racial slurs whilst reading Of Mice and Men. On one occasion whilst I read out loud to the class, I reached the N word and explained to the class assistant that I didn’t feel comfortable reading it. She continued encouraging me and eventually allowed me to skip it, but complained to my English teacher about how “disrespectful” I had been, which resulted in me being punished.
Ash Manor School continues to stand by outdated values and everyone I know who attended has negative experiences.

"A Home Away from Home"

My child has settled in so well here, and I love the small class sizes. The outdoor learning program is amazing, and they do a great job of making learning fun. The only reason I wouldn't give it a 5 star is because the communication between teachers and parents could be better.

"A Big Thank You"

My child left Ashley Manor in Year 6 and went on to pass their 11+ with flying colors. The prep work they did was top-notch, and I've no doubt it helped them get into their dream school. We're so grateful for the time they spent at Ashley Manor - it really was a formative experience for them.
