About West Leigh Infant School

Welcome to Our Federation West Leigh Infant School and Backwell Church of England Junior School formally federated in April 2013. The two schools serve the same community and indeed, the vast majority of children move from Year 2 at West Leigh to Year 3 at Backwell Juniors.

"Some ups and downs"

We've had a mixed experience at West Leigh Infant School. On the one hand, the teachers are very enthusiastic and the facilities are great. However, we feel that the school could do more to support children with special needs, and we've had some issues with communication with the staff. Overall, it's a good school, but we have some concerns that need to be addressed.

"Love the sense of community"

We've been at West Leigh Infant School for two years now and it feels like a second home to our family. The staff are so welcoming and supportive, and the children thrive in the nurturing environment. The facilities are also impressive, with a lovely playground and a dedicated library. We feel so lucky to be part of the Backwell Federation community!

"Excellent education and care"

Our children attended West Leigh Infant School and then Backwell Junior School, and we couldn't be happier with the education and care they received. The schools' values of kindness, respect, and responsibility really shine through in the way the teachers treat the children. We're so grateful for the memories and skills our children developed during their time at the schools.
