"This school is not as good as they say they are"

I hate attending this school. I'm so anxious to even go in everyday. Don't get me wrong, the education here is better than average, but everything else is terrible. Canteen queues are horrendous. Students can get full days of isloation for missing a 15 minute detention. The school is also terrible at tellimg students and staff important things.

It feels like this school only cares about looks - they are so strict about uniform above all else. You can be loud in class and distract everyone else, and the teachers won't do anything, but if you don't have your blazer, that's a detention.

This school has even denied so many students of access arrangements that students need for their exams, despite reports from medical professionals being sent in to show that these students need these things.

Overall, terrible school. There's also too much pressure placed on students for exams, though this is unfortunately normal in most schools.

"Once a great school, not what it was…"

Pastoral care is shocking. Don’t expect any help if you are struggling with your mental health. Standard of teaching varies wildly and although there are some great teachers who genuinely care about the pupils, the senior leaders don’t give a ****. They are arrogant and rude and dismiss any complaints without addressing them properly. SEND support is negligible. Glad to see their recent ofsted picked up on this so they’re no longer able to ride on their 12 year old Outstanding rating.

Behaviour management is inconsistent and their behaviour policy is ridiculous. Detentions and days in isolation are given out by some teachers for the most arbitrary offences, mainly because they lack basic classroom management skills. As a result, pupils are removed from their learning far too frequently and what is supplied when they are in iso is inadequate e.g. spending a day copying out of textbooks.

25 minutes is given for lunch. This isn’t enough time to cross the school site to the canteen, queue up and eat. Many days went without any lunch because no time to get anything. Never known a school give less than 50 minutes for a proper lunch break. Outrageous that this is all the R&R kids are given in a long day.

"Dont go to this school."

I would honestly give it 0 stars if i could. My experience of education here was awful. I had reported something really serious where the police were involved. The student who did it to me got in NO trouble whatsoever. My rapist walked around school freely, while i was missing out on education due to having panic attacks in the pastoral hub - who, by the way, did NOTHING to help.

On top of all of this, i had an extremely ableist teacher, who made a really horrific remark about my disability.

the majority of the teachers leave the register on the screen, which shows all of the students personal details, like pupil premium or SEND. This is both a breach of GDPR and confidentiality.
I really would NOT reccommend this school.

"Some positives and negatives"

Redborne has its strengths and weaknesses. The school has a great location and the facilities are modern and well-maintained. However, we've found that the communication between teachers and parents can be lacking at times, which can make it difficult to stay on top of our child's progress.

"Highly recommend"

Redborne has exceeded our expectations in every way. The staff are friendly and approachable, the curriculum is well-rounded and the opportunities for extracurricular activities are numerous. Our daughter is enjoying her time at the school.

"Worst school in all of England "

Absolutely terrible, do not come to this school, I'm still in year 10 and have made my mum's up about it, so many kids vaping, doing drugs and having s*x in the boys bathroom alone. Not to mention on the bullying issues... OH MY GOD! I have been bullied since age 4 by many people in my school's and going into redborne I thought "hey this will be a good change to my bullying issues"... I was incorrect. Pastoral wouldn't help even though I was going to them everyday, I got in trouble for running away from someone with a WEAPON and my bullying issues went from 10 bullies to half the boys in my year in redborne upper school. Recently I got assaulted by about 7 boys in my pe class, the teacher read looking and didn't do anything until I was being kicked on the floor crying out in pain. I never had an issue with suicidal thoughts but now I do... The only thing that is good is the food and I have allergies so my choices should be limited... Nope 😀... Nicest school food I've ever had so if you have read this whole review, unless you are a foodie, don't go, please... I don't want anyone else to go through the horror of this accursed school.

My son has thrived at Redborne, the teachers are supportive and the facilities are excellent. We love the emphasis on responsibility and respect, it's clear that the school values its students.

"A great school with a strong sense of community"

We were very happy with our experience at Redborne. The school has a strong sense of community and the teachers are dedicated to helping their students succeed. However, we did find that the school could benefit from more resources and facilities.

"Pastoral "

If you are not part of Pupil Premium or special education pastoral will do nothing for you. I have gone multiple times to pastoral, each time same problem. My home life was killing me and was starting to affect my relationships at school and grades. Each time I went to Pastoral they would tell me to wirte or a poem or letter and would say that they would make appointments for me but to no avail!

"Pathetic "

There is a huge bullying problem at this school as the teachers think that if the bully says sorry it’s ok to carry on. Few of the teachers I have had are caring but the rest only care if you have the necessary grade. Pastoral care is poor. One of the biggest problems is the management of the cues to the canteens- pushing and shoving occur on a regular basis. When teachers apparently do not have the ability to stop the physical assaults occurring in a supposed “safe environment”.

"Bullying and pastoral "

The bullying problem at this school is terrible, some of the students seem to have absolutely no human decency or compassion at all. The pastoral care is ok but don't really do anything to help even if a student is in crisis.
