"its decent"

decent facilities and can be quite good for creativity, shines a lot in the drama ans arts department, but teachers can be increasingly horrible to deal with and it is rare that one will stick with you as genuienly good. the food is great but the cantines are very overpriced and RAO is completely useless and stressful. homework system is not great but not awful but its a decent experience as a whole. wouldnt strongly reccomend but its better than some other grammar schools

"Very happy with this school"

Very supportive school with an amazing performing arts and music department. There is good feedback and you get 6 reports a year plus a parents evening so you know how your child is getting on.

"Excellent Start to Secondary School"

We were delighted with the school's warm welcome and the efforts made to make our child feel included. The head of school's bulletins have been informative and helpful. Our child is enjoying their studies and is settling well into the school community.

"It’s decent "

As good as an experience your going to get.
They like to say that rao is there for support but really no one goes there bc it’s terrifying or you feel judged. People go to rao to skip lessons that’s it.
Some teachers are amazing but some are awful. Depending on what teacher you get really defines how well you will do in the subject.
Pe teachers are strict and scary. English teachers all suck.
Great dance department though, we go on dance trips very often.
Lots of clubs to choose from and good canteen food now.
Lots of sitting areas around school so you don’t have to stand like a loner.
All in all it’s decent. Not bad really and you won’t find anywhere much better in the area.

"bad bad bad"

sh*t school. started struggling in yr 7, then lockdown, did nothing in lockdown, got no help, lockdown ended, i still didnt do any work, got no help even after asking, my head of year emailed my parents full details of a conversation she said was completely private, 2nd lockdown, still didnt do anything, got back, still nothing, lost my friends, finished year 8 after doing nothing for 2 years, year 9 started noticing people in my year giving me looks, still did nothing, except in art, spring term, im being bullied, i ask for help, nothing, new head of year does nothing to help me with school work, in fact he sat me down, looked at my books and told me 'this is the least work ive ever seen' i was already crying before he said that, he just sat there and watched and talked at me, this teacher is also supposed to be head of pastoral care, i was sick of it all, got mt mum to email the headteacher, got a meeting with the deputy head, he was nicer, but still did nothing, i got counselling after being on the waiting list for a year, it did nothing, i was still being bullied and it was even worse than before, i gave up half way through summer term, never going back there again. only good thing about that school is the art teacher <3

"Amazing School and Community!"

We have been amazed by the school's focus on building resilience and encouraging reciprocity. Our child has thrived in this supportive environment and has made lifelong friends. The facilities are excellent and the teachers are dedicated to their students' success.

"This is blunt and to the point :)"

Teachers are either brilliant or tyrants. Have yet to experience bullying. Older students can pick on youngers, but not repeatedly target them.
Not quite was i was expecting, but all in all ok.
Can be told "You are all f***ing failures".
But not often.

"READ THIS"

As a student at the "grammar school of today" I would say all in all it's ok. I have yet to experience bullying, abuse etc.
Having said that, the older students can sometimes pick on youngers, however never repeatedly targeted. The teachers are generally supportive and kind..
But some cannot control a class at all.
I'd say not quite what I was expecting when I first arrived, but still ok.

"Teachers aren’t always the best. "

It’s fine. Teachers are very 50/50. Some are wonderful, others are incapable of teaching or controlling a class. In some cases, they can actually be rather rude. For a grammar school, you’d expect teachers to support students, not tell them that they’re a failure.

That being said, the nicer and more supportive teachers can make any subject feel do-able, and they commit to helping. It’s just a shame that some bad teachers can make the school experience unpleasant if you don’t meet the (already high) expected grades.

Lastly, the school is misplacing their budget. The tower block heating system was recently replaced with a huge price tag. In the opinions of many students, it would’ve been more worth while and cost effective to install HVAC cassettes in each classroom as the building gets extraordinarily hot in summer, making it horrid to spend hour long lessons in.

"Great Education, but Some Room for Improvement"

We were impressed by the school's commitment to growing resourcefulness and nurturing reflection. Our child excelled in their studies and developed valuable skills. However, we felt that the pastoral care could have been better addressed at times.
