About Applefields School

Applefields School is a special school for children with learning difficulties who live either in York or the surrounding areas of North Yorkshire and the East Riding of Yorkshire. We have embedded classes at secondary mainstream schools in the City. Our students are at the heart of what we do, and with them we will help them to achieve their aspirations.

"Love the caring atmosphere"

My child has been at Applefields for 3 years and I've been blown away by the care and support they receive. The staff are amazing and the facilities are fantastic. The 'Own their futures' motto really resonates with me as it's clear the school is dedicated to helping each child achieve their potential.

"Supportive but challenging"

Our experience at Applefields has been mixed. On the one hand, the staff are incredibly supportive and have helped our son make progress in areas he was struggling with. On the other hand, we've found the curriculum to be a bit too laid-back at times, which has meant our son hasn't been challenged enough. We're hoping for a better year ahead.

"Fantastic school!"

We've been so impressed with Applefields from the moment we toured the school. The facilities are top-notch and the staff are warm and welcoming. Our daughter is thriving in her new class and we feel confident that she's in the right environment for her to succeed.

"Our son thrived at Applefields"

We sent our son to Applefields 5 years ago when he was struggling in mainstream school. The school's values, facilities and staff all contributed to him becoming a confident and happy young adult. We'll always be grateful for the support and guidance they offered.
