Ampleforth College

Ampleforth College is a co-educational, fee-charging private boarding school located near the village of Ampleforth, North Yorkshire, England. Founded in 1803 by Benedictine monks, it has a rich history rooted in Catholic and Benedictine values. The school offers a broad and academically challenging curriculum for pupils aged 11 to 18, including Latin, Greek, and a range of modern languages, alongside BTECs in hospitality, entrepreneurship, and countryside management. It emphasizes educating the whole person, fostering independent thinking, leadership, compassion, and a strong moral compass. The school is set in a picturesque valley with extensive sports pitches, wooded areas, lakes, and historic buildings including the UK's oldest purpose-built school theatre. Ampleforth is known for its strong Christian ethos, excellent extracurricular activities in sports, drama, music, and the arts, and a welcoming community atmosphere. It transitioned to full coeducation starting in 1998 and now has around 400 students, with a mix of day pupils and boarders.
