Myton School

Experience: The SEND team are brilliant and work with you to make the best of the constraints placed on them by the school and the local authority. However, the onus is on you as a parent to drive this which can be very tiring. Individual teachers and pastoral leads can also be supportive.

The schools values don’t align with reality with rewards based on attendance and uniform rather than recognising and rewarding the effort for every student.

The recently communicated school policy of sending staff to students homes to “persuade” them to go to school if they are absent is poor, particularly for SEND students. The expectation that parents are available at short notice to accommodate visits is also poor and doesn’t recognise working parents.

Concerns/ issues raised in writing are generally ignored/ not responded to unless you are very vocal and follow up/ escalate matters sadly.

Inclusion support: Adequately. The SEND team are great but sadly tge wider school still focussed on uniform and attendance - not very inclusive when it comes to rewards and recognition

My son has thrived at Myton School. The staff are always approachable and the pastoral care is outstanding. The facilities are great too, especially the sports centre.

We're generally pleased with Myton School, but we've had some issues with communication. The school does a good job of promoting the values of CARE, though.

My son has received an excellent education at Myton School, and we're grateful for the support he's received from the teachers. The school's focus on academic success and character development is impressive.

We were very happy with the Myton School community during our time there. The teachers were supportive and the extracurricular activities were excellent.
