South Charnwood High School

As a former student at South Charnwood High School, I can honestly say the way bullying was handled was appalling. I was bullied repeatedly, including having my lunch taken from me, and when I tried to speak up, I was dismissed with comments like “boys will be boys.” That response alone says everything about the attitude towards student safety and wellbeing.
The school did nothing while the bullying continued and got worse. It was only after I was physically assaulted that anyone finally decided it was serious enough to act. No student should have to be punched before adults step in and do their jobs.
I went home crying more times than I can count and often refused to attend school because I felt unsafe, ignored, and completely unsupported. The emotional impact of being treated like this stays with you long after you leave.
I would strongly warn parents against sending their children here if they expect bullying to be taken seriously. This school failed to protect me when it mattered most, and no child deserves to feel that powerless and unheard.

We moved to Markfield and were initially worried about the local schools, but South Charnwood has exceeded our expectations. The facilities are great, especially the sports hall and outdoor spaces. The teachers are supportive and really care about the students. We're so grateful to have found this school.

My child is still getting used to the school, but some of the teachers seem a bit disorganised. However, the facilities are great and the school's emphasis on the 3P's is really positive. I've met some nice parents and the open events were helpful in getting a sense of the school's community. Overall, I'm hopeful for the future.

I have two children who attended South Charnwood and I'm so proud of the people they've become. The school's values of being polite, prepared, and productive really stuck with them. The staff and teachers are friendly and approachable, and the school has a great sense of community. My kids loved their time at South Charnwood.
