Main difficulty: Unfortunately, our experience of this school has been far from impressive.
Communication from the school is, at best, a challenge. Parents are often left wondering what is happening, when things are happening, and whether anyone is actually listening.
Sports day seems to be an annual event that gets less preparation each year. The highlight this year was arguably the “natural obstacle course” provided by the long, uncut grass on the field — a creative approach to adding extra difficulty, although perhaps not the safest one for children taking part.
Extracurricular opportunities are another area where the school really shines… at providing very little. Other schools manage to offer athletics, football teams, and a range of activities to encourage children’s interests and development. Unfortunately, this school seems to have missed that particular memo, with what is offered feeling extremely limited and lacking ambition.
There are a couple of genuinely lovely teachers who clearly care about the children and go above and beyond, but sadly they appear to be carrying the weight of the wider issues.
Support for children with SEND needs is a major concern. Identifying and supporting children who require additional help seems to be an area where the school could significantly improve — perhaps a badge wouldn’t be enough after all.
The headteacher is friendly and cheerful, which is always pleasant, but when serious situations arise, being approachable is not the same as being effective.
Overall, this school has some wonderful individuals within it, but there are significant improvements needed in communication, leadership, SEND support, and opportunities for pupils. A little more preparation, accountability, and ambition would go a long way.
Area: Behaviour support, Communication, Inclusion / SEND, Leadership, Facilities
What could improve: Everything
Impact on my child: Enjoyment, Academic progress, Stress/anxiety
School responsiveness: Limited or unclear response
Inclusion support: Poorly
Summary: A school that appears to have mastered the art of doing the bare minimum, with a couple of fantastic teachers left trying to make up for the lack of leadership, communication and ambition.

"Happy and Engaging"
We've been very impressed with the EYFS curriculum and the way our child is encouraged to learn and explore. The Christmas performances are always a highlight and the staff go above and beyond to make the children feel special. We feel very lucky to have found such a great school.

"Mixed Experience"
We had a good experience at Aldwyn Primary School, especially in terms of the facilities and the extracurricular activities. However, we sometimes felt that the school could do more to support our child with their academic progress. Overall, it was a decent school, but not outstanding in our opinion.
