"Student opinion"

If i could rate this a 0, i would, but I can’t.
This school tries desperately to be a good and well disciplined school but it’s failing terribly. You guys, the staff, do realise adding constant new shitty rules doesn’t make it a better school… right??? If you even bothered to take the time of day to think about making the school better you’d might try to sort out the bullying issue. But evidently you are not ready for that conversation. You just want higher reviews to prove that your school is worth the time of day. Well, it’s not. If I have kids I would make sure they weren’t aloud 10 feet near this school.
You guys add new staff, add new rules and add new restrictions, and it will ONLY make more and more people want to leave and act up because of that. I would know, I am know people that try to get out this school. I am excited to leave this school myself and I pray everyday that you guys rather listen to your students for once or i leave before you ruin it.

"Don't send your kid there."

Horrendous school, never send your kid there.
I went there from yr7 all way to yr11 and it was the worst years of my life.
The teachers are rude most times, they downplay whatever going through- such as feeling ill or your mental health is degrading.
They do nothing about bullying, you can fill out a form but that's about it- In fact, I was being harassed badly and the teachers only made it worse for me, they tell you to "just ignore it"
The toilets are shared gender, the only separate ones are always locked and everybody I knew hated it- Least I mention, you need a toilet pass to go during lesson which is a ball-ache.
People at reception are awful too, all they did was complain- In fact, I was trying to tell them I needed medication on me in case I was on the verge of fainting but all they did was say "but you need to keep it at reception"- They don't care if your ill at all.
Another thing is, your forced to line up before classes outside and then led to class- even during cold weather.
One last thing, they give detention for the stupidest of reasons- 2 minutes late? Detention. Homework a little late? Detention. I got a Detention once for "not paying attention".. I was brushing something off my blazer.
So yeah, awful school, does accommodate for anyone's needs and allows kids to be relentlessly bullied.
Never send your kid there, unless you want your kids mental health suffering just from how bad the school is.

"A Warm and Welcoming School Community"

I'm so impressed with the values that Heath Lane Academy teaches our children - kindness, respect, and hard work. Our son has settled in beautifully and loves the Duke of Edinburgh program. The teachers are all very supportive and communication from the school is excellent.

"Don't go "

Once a teacher there slapped me, no teachers listened to my point of view on it. And they got away with it.
I never deserved to be slapped just because I never under stood my work I have adhd and learning difficulties. The school never understood those issues and give you detentions for every little thing I cant keep still on a chair due to my adhd. And got an detention each time. They never listen to your reasons on being 2 minutes late too school you get an detention. Their only solution to everything was detentions. Boys and girls share bathrooms which is open and no students feel comfortable with it. All teachers and rude and never listen. There is so much bullying only felt with by writing out a form the then get a detention which does nothing they just carry on bullying. My grades were bad as I had no proper help or QA for my adhd. So if you want an education and too not be bullied sont go here.
This school ruined my self confidence. And it's hard to concentrate with all the class clowns.

"Some Great Aspects, but Room for Improvement"

We attended Heath Lane Academy for two years and had a generally good experience. The school's focus on character education and community service is really admirable. However, we did find the communication between teachers and parents to be a bit patchy at times, and the homework load could be more balanced.
