"DO NOT ATTEND"

Worst school in Lancashire. The teachers don't do anything to stop bullying. The teachers don't stop the use of drugs either over 8 kids have been hospitalised for using ketamine in the bathrooms. Highly don't recommend this dangerously unstable school

"Mixed feelings about Colne Park High School"

We were really excited for our daughter to start at Colne Park High School, but we've had a bit of a mixed experience so far. Some of the teachers are excellent, but others seem a bit disorganized. The facilities are great, but we've had some issues with parking. Overall, it's a decent school, but we're still not sure if it's the right fit for our daughter.

"Our daughter loves Colne Park High School"

We moved to the area and were initially worried about choosing a new school for our daughter. However, after attending the open evening and meeting the staff, we knew Colne Park High School was the right choice for her. The facilities are excellent and the teachers are very supportive. Our daughter has settled in really well and is enjoying her time at the school.

"Fight tolerance "

Its only good because of a few teachers but when it comes to fights they turn a blind eye. like for example today 28/9/22 a girl went to hospital covered in her own blood all because teachers refused to stop them and let them fight it out.

"So many big issues not being solved "

While academically it is rated as the best school in the area, that is as far as the good qualities of the school go. The school is entirely interested in the statistics and how the school is viewed from the outside. Even in an academic sense it leaves many students behind, only focusing on the students who do well from the very beginning and neglecting the students who need help the most. This poses many many issues and many people who aren't neurotypical suffering. On top of this the school has no care for the students well being. Bullying is barely handled and homophobia, transphobia, racism and ablism is prominent constantly, I have even personally heard a few of the teachers themselves use slurs. Fighting happens on a daily basis and the toilets currently are a big issue. There was an incident last year of students snorting things they shouldn't do in the school bathrooms and in response to this the school has put windows in the bathrooms so the teachers (and anyone walking past) can see in. This has solved no issues and just takes away a level of privacy from the bathrooms. The rules are getting stricter and stricter each year without solving any if the actual problems within the school, just making it harder to comply to the rules and have a comfortable learning environment. In my experience the majority of the teachers work hard and are doing there best but the things mentioned above just aren't being addressed by higher positions in school and I don't see anything changing anytime soon.

"Excellent all-round school"

We had our son at Colne Park High School for 5 years and were thoroughly impressed with the school's values and ethos. The teachers were all very supportive and helped our son to achieve his potential. The school's commitment to providing a caring and nurturing environment for all students is second to none.

"No words."

When i went to this school it was all good and well but as year 11 came around the teachers let them smoke on the grounds and sometimes joined them, let boxing matches go on in the toilets and kids would vape and even take drugs in the bathrooms

Many kids bullied you if you didn’t have the same fashion or even music taste to popularity.

This school cared more about what people thought about them more than the kids themselves who were viewed as statistics

Horrible school don’t send your kids to it!!!

"Would not recommend."

This school was great academically for me but was very homogeneous when it came to knowing students personally due to the giant school size. We were thrown around different teachers in the early school life but the problems really started to hit when it came to safeguarding and handling of bullying. They seemed to care more about uniform than the time a well known drug was used in the bathroom. This is definitely not a school to go to if you are not nerotypical as the support staff was oblivious and seemed to have no control over the school and could only intervene by telling your head of year or form tutors.

"Park High School"

I think this school is pretty good. With the exception of a few hiccups, I look back on my time at this school reasonably fondly, and I think this is due in most part to certain teachers with whom my relationship with was something I would cherish.

Staff are for the most part really quite supportive, as well as the majority of teachers being interesting and engaging while still being firm enough to have students stay on task, as well as pushing a student that extra 10% or so to reach that top mark. This would however minorly become an issue as students would quickly find themselves overworked, even the most on-top-of-it A* level students I knew would say there could be too much work sometimes.

While at this school I personally never knew of any ongoing issues relating to substances or violence, with the very rare exception of minor fights breaking out between students, however this is not the fault of the staff and the school, as to their credit they would always have someone arrive on scene very quickly to break up the fight and deal with people involved appropriately. One team when a fight had been arranged at a local park two staff members even drove down from school to intervene.

There is a strict ban on smoking in school or on school grounds. I myself am not or have ever been a smoker, and I think is fine for the most part, however perhaps it would be good to have a smoking shelter, or a designated area where students can smoke, which the school does not. It is all well and good saying "none of you should be smoking anyway" or etc as a reason for the absence of a smoking zone, however at the end of the day kids are stupid and people get addicted, making this a failure to accommodate in my opinion. Also one time a friend of mine was seen smoking in town nowhere near school and was given some form of punishment, I can't remember what. It may have been because they were wearing school uniform while smoking, but I personally don't think they should have been punished.

There is also a personal support system in place that I've only ever had to interact with once or twice but it seems pretty good.

As a whole, I think the school is good, at least through my eyes and from my experiences, however I can not speak for everyone as some people's experiences differ in varying ways from my own. 3/5
