"Good school"
The head teacher was very open-minded and approachable, which I appreciated. While I did notice that the school could benefit from a bit more discipline to prevent some misbehaviour, I believe this is something that can improve over time.
In terms of education, I am impressed with the high academic achievements of many students, including my daughter, who is very happy and proud to be part of the school. I believe that with continued effort, Oaks Park High School will reach even higher levels of excellence in the future.
"Uncaring school."
The students are treated as second class citizens and don't get any support from the year team and are bullied by certain teachers and senior staff, If it involves them doing extra work or paperwork that may effect they bonuses. The Children don't matter here.
Don't send your child to an unprofessional run school.
"Racial Discriminatory"
Th head teacher sends out letters deflecting from the other students actions.
If you value your child mental health and physical wellbeing, then this would not be the appropriate school placement for your child.
I cannot stress enough this school is full of racism and discrimination.
Formerly Stanley Park they made an attempt to revamp their approach and their outlook and changed their name. However, nothing has changed.
Do not send your black babies to this school
"Avoid needs more done"
This school has a very worry high rate of self harming going on with many students carrying blades on them, school would rather keep it quite then cause a Panic. pupils clearly need help and support but why some pupils get a lot of support sadly other don’t and that makes the pupils spiral even further with mental health issue to suicidal thoughts .The school just wants these kind of pupils out the school and say they have done everything to help ,Never trust what they say and chase it up and repeatedly check they have done what they have agree to do for your children as sadly this has not been the case for many pupils .
If your child is not very liked by the high teachers they do not stand a chance as these teachers will constantly trigger your child and how to push them,Then when the pupils is triggered they will have them for bad behaviour
In meeting take notes and get them to sign ,if you don’t they will make you feel things have not been said or that you missed understood and unfortunately liar ,so always get on record and a plan sign and check it’s being done as promised if you feel they are not doing everything they should be doing like the school policy says make some noise and get your voice heard until they do because if a pupil breaks school policy they follow it to get pupils out
"Give your kids a chance in life but NOT SENDING THEM HERE"
There are however a few really decent teachers that want to help your child do well
High staff show no compassion to helping kids in need, and would go as far as not respecting the opinions of the really good teachers that want to help kids
This school needs a good shake up as they are meant to play a part of shaping kids for the future not tearing them down .Can see why so many kids have behaviour issue,Time this school helped these children
"Oaks park high"
Hierarchy teachers do not care or listen to children’s needs just care about results or you are out
If child’s grades slip not bothered about looking into why or how to help them get back on track
Policies not followed to help children with mental health issue they just get redeemed as bad behaviour kids and would rather kick them out other then support them, unless they like your child then they will bend over backwards to help
"Fantastic school"
They challenge the kids & encourage them out of their comfort zone to ensure they become a well rounded adult.
The teachers go above and beyond at every level.
10/10
"Dosnt deal with anything"
"Minority group"
"Incredible School!"
"Not a educational setting or environment. "
The staff are just under to much pressure now and the school has gone to pot!
I can not believe there has not been intervention from the authorities.
Teaching standards are low,
Care for students is low,
Behaviour though the school is despicable.
There is no authority within the school
It could honestly appear on a TV Show.
The toilets are now locked due to them being abused!
The canteen is so small most kids cant get food and if they do there is no where to sit.
Communication from school is non existent
Myself and many other parents are desperate to get our kids out before its to late !
But places in borough are near on impossible to get
It has not had an ofstead since it changed names, and when one does i do hope it changes!
There are a few good teachers there that really are a credit, but i think this has gone to far now and needs serious help to improve
"HIGHLY DONT RECOMMEND SENDING YOUR CHILD HERE "
"STOP BULLYING"
"Great Support System"
"Wonderful Experience"
"Mixed Feelings"
"Simply the worst school "
"Don’t do it!"
" safe at school don't send them here "
"Good times but lots to improve."
A few things that just shouldn’t be happening at a school:
The head of school interrogating students to find out who is dealing in the school.
Teachers (One of the male pe teachers) blatantly seeing kids saying homophobic slurs to LGBT students in their year and not doing anything about it. (He may not have known how much of an impact he had on us however as a teacher he should have done something as he has a duty to safeguard and if I don’t speak up here, no one would ever know.)
Lots of chav fights and love to get all in your face and start drama.
Phone policy is silly. I’m pretty sure it is illegal to confiscate someones phone for the entire week and to lock it in the school safe.
Bicycle licenses was the wordt idea the headteacher ever had.
The exam coordinator of the school was blatantly rude and when asked why I had not received the exams that I got remarked ( which i paid £50 for per exam) he responded “well if your mark had changed, you would’ve been told”
The point of getting an exam remarked is to be notified of the results, not being humiliated when chasing it up. Utterly ridiculous.
When I started college, it was a big surprise for me how we were treated with respect and like an actual human, as schools think degrading is the best way to punish nowadays.
My english teacher, whom I had for year 7, 9,10 and 11 was so incredible, pushed me to my limits and stayed after school to help me and other students get extra help and push us to get the best grades possible. Props to her! Hope she is doing incredibly well!
Overall SPH, oaks park was alright, lots of good memories, good building, other than trade in summer as the air intake is next to the sewage output and stinks in the heat. Timetable was a good layout, with form right before lunch.
There was a vast range of Teachers.
However don’t get me wrong there is a lot to improve.
The pe department think theyre a bunch of teenagers taking the mick out of students and absolutely losing their cool if you forget your pe kit even if its just the once by accident.
All teachers need training on proper discipline and treating students with respect.
All teachers need training on intervention with racism, homophobia etc.
Some policies and procedures need reviewing.
The grades of students need to be improved, my gcses were a joke in comparison to my mock exams.
Efc was great and im an incredibly confident public speaker to this date. I do great in interviews and I have received countless promotions in my career and have had many opportunities due to my confidence and reliability.
