Bury Church of England High School

Come to this school if you want to suffer physically and mentally.
I used to be a student there two years ago before I freed myself. I only have bad things to say about it. First of all, the condition is old and damp, there was a gas leak, rats, and hygiene is the worst. Don`t even get me started on the toilets, Mc Donalds toilets are way cleaner.
Three out of seven cubicles are always under management and there are always pupils vaping. Pupils mental health is not cared for and bullying is constant, which is not a Christian school´s behaviour. Many pupils complained back then and continue to, as the staff´s focus is on makeup and uniform instead of safety. Just before I left, six of most pupils favourite and best teachers left the school and they were the only ones that actually knew how to teach.
They make you run in the pouring rain during physical education and in -2 degree celsius weather, without letting you wear a coat because apparently "it´s not part of the school´s uniform". Which is why I had gotten sick four times and an ear infection from such PE lessons, so I went to my form teacher and other staff so I could ask to be picked up since I was in pain but all I got in return was a "you can last three more hours", although once I got home my parents took me to the hospital as I was in genuine pain.
To summarise, this is one of the most dreading school I´ve ever been to, it is Ironic how it is a Christian school but the hardest thing to find is an actual Christian teacher.

My friend was chased they don't really help you my mum is a former pupil and it hasn't really changed with bullying. Autistic kid was pinned against a wall and screamed at friend got called a female dog and told a teacher and nothing gets done

The school is the textbook definition of hell on earth. Do NOT enroll your child into this school- what you see on the website and on any public days is FALSE ADVERTISEMENT!!!
This school will mentally, physically and emotionally DRAIN your child, especially if they're coming into school as a year 7. Some of the people at this school will make it their God given mission to make your childs life a living hell (this can be from students or teachers) . You may think this happens everywhere, which is true HOWEVER, if it gets to the point where the bullying is that bad, just know that bcehs will NOT support you or your child. Infact, there is a good chance that they will actually support the bully and try to tell you as a parent that your child blew the situation wayy out of proportion (love the gaslighting) and it is now under control (it is not). This method of 'sorting things out' is a regular practice that is used to keep 'pushy parents' out of these situations!!!. If you were to inform the school of the event that is severely upsetting your child (who is the victim) I am telling you right now that your child will be ignored by 90% of the staff who may have to get involved! If your child stops attending school due to the situation worsening , just know that you will be payed a very special visit by some walking talking highlighters to try and encourage you to push your child to their breaking point once more!! Unfortunately, the school is terribly short on staff who care for your child's mental well being and academic status. There are small amount of teachers who offer both these qualities and many more but very few of those teachers are in higher positions in school,so if they were to raise the issue, they're likely to be ignored too. This is a warning to NOT put your child into such a toxic and negative environment that will remove every last ounce of purity, joy and their will live. It will scar them for an eternity.

They are the worst for sorting things out

Our daughter is still adjusting to the school, but we've seen some positive changes in her since starting. The school's admissions process was a bit confusing, but the staff have been helpful. We're looking forward to seeing her progress.

My son had a fantastic time at Bury CE High School, both academically and personally. The school's focus on character development and its inclusive approach helped him thrive. We're grateful for the education and care he received.

Been impressed by the school's commitment to Christian values and its impact on our son's well-being. The facilities are excellent, and the teachers are very supportive. We're grateful to be part of the Bury CE High School community.

Bullying is common and teachers say they can t do anything about it - I was badly bullied And ended up missing out on education - teachers seem scared of pupils whose behaviour is pretty awful . I did nt feel safe there and there was no pastoral support - was nt the caring Christian school it makes itself out to be

i attended this school a few years back and i barley attended due to bullying. the school didn’t do anything to help and actually put the blame on myself!

my parents had been into the school for several meetings & made hundreds of phone calls but nothing was ever sorted!

unless you are seen as ‘normal’ don’t attend this school. i am unable to walk unaided and they made me walk up the stairs 3-4 times a day!! so if you need extra support i wouldn’t recommend!

i missed a full year of my education to work on myself after what the bullying had done to me. and after the one year i moved to a different school as i was missing the social aspect of being in school.

I left here in 2017 and bullying was a problem. Alot of people were bullied, even myself. From 2012-2017 and the teachers never did anything about it. Didn't have many friends because I was quiet but it wasn't like the teachers did anything about that either. The students in the years below had a very bad attitude and nothing was ever done!

Nothing wad done until I was in year 10 after my mum came in and shouted at the teachers, before that she would call up and nothing would happen.

The teaching was good and I liked the lessons but the staff who dealt with bullying, honestly didn't care.

I leave this school on the 28th of May 2021 forever, and overall throughout the years this school has been great. Majority of teachers there are amazing, the days aren't too long and there is a wide range of things to do. Food is also pretty good here.

I've never been bullied at this school and haven't seen any bullying.

Poor choice of GCSEs (one od which has to be RE)
The setting system is broken
Useless pastoral staff with an overall unwelcoming aura
Too many teachers and not enough classrooms
Once a week we have to go to an assembly and sit on the floor because it's in the sports hall
It takes too long to order and get food

It’s gotten to the point where I don’t want to go to school anymore, yet I don’t want to move either, as I’ll be leaving my friends behind and the bully’s will think that they’ve won. I’ve fallen down a metaphorical pit ever since I arrived. I was always happy at the start, and now I’m not.

They’re good on the education side, yet dealing with bullying is another story. The school doesn’t even care about the fact I’ve tried ending my own life because of them. They’re the reason I’m like this.

They shout at me when I don’t do any work, yet they use excuses after excuses to not sort stuff out. It actually took my father to come into school and to threaten them for something to be done about it.

I’m quite convinced that it’ll actually take someone to succeed in killing themselves and to write in their final letter that this is the schools fault for something to be done about it.

Not a bad school tbh

on numerous times there were rats scurrying around the building, the teachers were teaching lessons that were not fit for primary school and the lack of care for students wellbeing is appalling. There were numerous accounts of bullying within the school and nine times out of ten they would blame the victim and attempt to help the bully. There was one girl who was being told to kill herself most days and when they brought it to the schools attention the school told the girl to get over it and offered the bully more support without checking on the victim. I would not recommend this school for anyone looking for a good school for any child.
