"Negative points."

Overall, my experience at South Green was not one I consider to be terrible, however there are some key points I insist on putting forward. Bullying is something that never appeared to be taken seriously, especially when it came to students of colour being mocked and teased. It was a predominantly white school when I attended, but I noticed for years that the few non-white pupils were treated disgustingly. The people at South Green must be taught and disciplined on what they can and cannot say - I distinctly remember racist, homophobic, and transphobic slurs being thrown around as ‘banter’. In addition, as a closeted member of the community I felt very unsafe as a result of the lack of LGBTQ+ education. It is not a harmful topic to discuss with children any age, and looking back I truly wonder why it was never brought up unless it was to insult someone. The teaching methods also did not appear to sufficiently enrich the students of a higher academic level. There was an enrichment club which was beneficial, although I have realised on numerous occasions it led to a burn-out after leaving, and sometimes even before. Of course, I do not currently attend the school and have not been back there for many years so I have not been alerted towards any changes in these respects, but I hope everything said here will still be taken into account.
