"Fantastic School with a Family Feel"

We moved to Barnstaple from the city and were worried about how our children would settle in. But The Park Community School has been a breath of fresh air - the staff are friendly and approachable, and the school's values of kindness and respect really shine through. Our children love going to school and have made some wonderful friends.

We've been really impressed with The Park Community School in Barnstaple. The teachers are supportive and enthusiastic, and the school's focus on individual needs has helped our son thrive. We've seen a real improvement in his confidence and academic progress.

"Worst School"

The worst school I've ever been to. None of the staff care about the children at all and their mental health policies are a complete joke. I don't know why you'd ever send your child to this school after reading everything unless you hated them. Thanks for all the trauma Park staff !

"Protect your child's mental health don't bother with this school"

I have a child in park school which I have been asking for them to look into if he has educational needs support. They refuse.

There are times my child goes missing from school and the school doesn't notify the parent the child is missing.

And finally asking for the school to put into writing about issues with my child on school premises when I get a phone call to pick him back up 5 mins after dropping him off yet again refuse

"Can't even handle bullying "

Yeah this school is alright. But some of the kids are really rude and a kid got bullied but all the teacher did was let it happen. It's good they support pride and that but if a child stands up for themselves, they get a detention. Some teachers think they own the place and send kids out for stupid reasons (eg not knowing an answer). On the other hand, the education system is ok. But the actual people are just horrible.

"Why it’s a bad school."

teachers only care about the students who aren’t going through anything, the students who don’t struggle at school.

"don’t go here if ur not white !"

every single kid at this school is RACIST! it’s almost all country white people who’ve never seen a brown person before and they’re not educated! the school needs to do more cause all these kids think poc don’t exist. they make not funny stupid jokes and always shouting slurs at each other. not to mention mental health support is terrible, none of the head staff care about you unless you are a high achiever who’s never set a foot wrong. some of the teachers are alright but the management and “student support” staff are terrible at their jobs. they are not helping children they are labelling them as problems and ignoring them! there’s also a big drug problem they deal with badly

"Worst school in Devon "

Waste of time sending your child to this school if you want them to get anxiety, depression and be turned into a druggy the SLT team do not do there Job correctly, they say that they care about all the students no one in that school knows how to teach at all, all the female teachers are sexist and hand out after schools left and right, the technology teachers are very poor at health and safety inside the class rooms when students are handling tools. Just get rid of all of these teachers that are corrupting the students and maybe you’ll start to see less depressed people and more grades going up

"A joke of a school"

The head is a joke. I don’t think I’ve ever seen him talk to the students at lunch or break or in assembly when it wasn’t about ‘making the school better’. The response to bullying is poor; an all day isolation doesn’t sort anything. The pastoral care system is equally as awful with the staff not actually taking students situations serious even to the point of discussing these situations to other pupils! The uniform policy is also a joke and strips away every inch of individuality. Like come on, no make up, no jewellery, no denim jackets!! It’s all a joke. A terrible school and it all happened when the new joke of a head became in charge. There are a small group of staff that support the children well and I will cherish the way they cared for me throughout my time at park.

"It’s okay"

It’s a fine school, nothing special, but the Covid-19 response was pitiful to say the least with no safety precautions that truly work. Doesn’t feel to safe on that and also the teachers handle the rules as though they don’t apply when the students do eg:phones but other than that it’s good enough

"Park School (Devon) Review"

Pretty good with handling bullying I find. Generally just a average-good school. Nice teachers. I like the art department lots, theres quite a bit of stuff to experiment with. I would say their covid response wasnt very good and I dont recommend the buses. The school hus is a public bus still but is very busy and you may have to be stood up and packed together. It just isnt safe.

"It was okay "

They screwed most of my year over with our GCSE results. We get that things are different at the moment, but most students got downgraded in at least one subject, I got downgraded in 4, meaning I'm not able to go on to my A-Level courses. Don't get me wrong most of the teachers are alright, but they aren't always very supportive of the students opinions in lessons (especially History, I got told that an essay I did on my opinion was wrong and got ask to re-do it because the teacher didn't agree. ) The PE department is really good, so is the maths, humanities and most of the English. I love science, but my biology teacher missed out the biggest topic in year 10 meaning that my whole class had to catch up right before our mocks and after, while another class in the same situation got extra classes, apart from that the Science department are lovely.
