About St Mary's Roman Catholic Primary School, a Voluntary Academy
St Mary’s RC Primary School and Nursery, a voluntary academy, is situated in the town of Bacup, Lancashire. We are very lucky that our school is surrounded by lots of lovely views of the countryside and we have spacious grounds on which to learn, play, investigate and explore. I am very proud to be Headteacher here at St Mary’s as we have a very caring and nurturing team of staff who are dedicated and committed to providing a high quality of education and support for all our pupils.

"Wonderful School Experience"
My daughter has been at St Mary's for 4 years now and I've been thoroughly impressed with the school's commitment to its values and the way the staff and teachers genuinely care for each pupil. The facilities are excellent, especially the Forest School area, and I've loved attending the parent-teacher meetings to see how my child is progressing. Highly recommend!

"Some Positives, Some Room for Improvement"
My son has been at St Mary's for a year now and while I appreciate the effort the staff put into making the pupils feel welcome and supported, I've noticed some inconsistencies in the way the school is run. For example, I've had to chase up missed homework on several occasions and the school's communication with parents could be better. That being said, the school's mental health initiatives and Eco-Warriors program are great and my son loves his PSHE lessons. I suppose it's a work in progress!

"Exceptional Education"
I have two children who attended St Mary's and they both thrived in the supportive and inclusive environment. The school's Catholic values really shone through in the way the staff and teachers helped my children develop their faith and empathy for others. My children are now in secondary school and still talk about the amazing experiences they had at St Mary's. Thanks to the whole St Mary's team!
