About King Henry viii 3-19 School

King Henry VIII 3–19 School in Abergavenny is an English-language all-through school serving students from ages 3 to 19. The school traces its origins back to 1542, when it was established as a free grammar school under the patronage of King Henry VIII, making it one of the oldest schools in Wales. The current school is located on Old Hereford Road and provides a seamless educational experience by combining primary, secondary, and sixth form education in one institution, eliminating the traditional divide between primary and secondary phases. The curriculum is designed to provide a strong foundation for all learners, with a focus on smooth transitions and a joined-up approach to education. The school also offers facilities for children with additional learning needs and supports a wide range of enrichment activities. The new campus, completed in recent years, features modern classrooms, specialist facilities, and spaces for community engagement, reflecting its commitment to both academic excellence and community involvement.

"RUN, DON’T WALK"

in my time at the school i experienced a lot of bullying and racism and when i went to the teachers they said it was banter and did nothing about it. My maths teacher picked on me in class for asking questions about how to answer our upon coming maths gcse paper, i remember he called me stupid in-front of everyone. People who agreed with the edl ran about the school calling black students the n word and it wasn’t dealt with. Many girls were raped and sexually assaulted but teachers did nothing about it and encouraged them to hang around the assulter. They don’t have the money to feed children, there’s not enough school equipment such as, books, reading books and maths materials.DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILDREN HERE.

"GIVE THIS SCHOOL A MISS "

I have Just been reading through the reviews and sadly I have to agree this school is a terrible place ,there are far too many kids ,the kids who want to learn dont stand a chance because of the vile kids ,there is no discipline , the staff turn a blind eye to the bullying that goes on its almost like the staff are scared of the bullies ,If I had kids now there is no way I would send them here ,One review says this school should be a future prison .I think its going to be needed for the future criminals that this school and the ignorant parent/s turn out.

"Awful."

I worked here last year as a teacher, the staff are as bad as the kids. Kids can't be blamed for bad parenting and bad behaviour policy. Actually, there is no behaviour policy at this school. The teachers have their own policy going on in their classrooms and each teacher is different - no consistency, hence crazy kids. I remember getting my vaccination done for covid and I was entitled to a day off according to the gov, but the staff made such a big deal out of it and tried to make me feel bad about it when I called in - there's a lady who deals with absences and while she was going to disconnect the phone she was saying a bunch of awful things about me while not knowing she was on the line! The older white staff are racist, and genuinely don't care about the kids, especially the black kids. There was an annoying woman who worked in an office by my room and would always peek in and felt entitled enough to disrupt my teaching if a child was doing something wrong. Honestly can't say anything nice other than the fact that I actually like the kids and if they were separated into sets and not mixed ability, with an actual behaviour policy and get rid of the old white racist teachers, it would be an ok school.

"It’s a bad school don’t send your kids there "

Do not send your kids here I am currently enrolled there and the amount of bullying I have been through is absolutely vile but they do not do anything about it, I myself am a nerodivergent kid and suffer with Dyscalculia and dyspraxia they do nothing about it and refuse to help me the only acceptable teacher I know of is my form tutor. She will listen to what you have to say and not report it unless it is worrying or threatening you or another student or teacher.

"A School that ought to be a future prison"

Some of the kids are Just plain awful ,Bullying is rife and is mostly ignored ,there is no discipline for the awful kids these rotten kids and I suspect equally rotten parents run the show . There is no respect . I would even say that the teachers are too scared to deal with the bullying for fear of reprisals from the vile bullies .There is no order even after school as they descend on the heath the awful kids are loud and disruptive and still continue bullying other kids. This has been going on for a few years now and I can't see it getting any better ,and I don't understand why the bullies are not being arrested and charged after all they are at the age to be prosecuted- I don't see the point of this school especially that the well behaved kids don't get a fair chance to learn because of the vile bullies in fact I think the school ought to be closed down and turned in to a prison to put the bullies in later in life because kids like that grow up to be criminals especially violent criminals

School does nothing to prevent bullying, homophobia is normalised and teachers are unable to control classes.
