"Excellent school with a lovely atmosphere"

We moved to Colchester a year ago and I'm so glad we chose CRGS. The music and drama facilities are amazing and our son has thrived in the school. The teachers are supportive and the students are friendly. We've been really impressed with the school's values and the way they encourage the children to be their best selves.

"Some teething issues but overall a great school"

We've had our daughter at CRGS for a year now and while she's settled in well, we've had some issues with the communication from the school. The facilities are excellent and the teachers seem dedicated, but we've found the school's values a bit inconsistent at times. Still, we're optimistic that the school will continue to improve and we're happy with the progress our daughter is making.

"Fantastic school with a strong sense of community"

We had our son at CRGS for three years and were blown away by the school's commitment to excellence. The boarding house is a beautiful facility and our son loved the experiences he had living with the Sixth Form students. The teachers are passionate and dedicated, and the school's values really shine through in the way the children are treated.

"Apply to CRGS at your own risk!"

The high grades this school shows off are only achieved because of the filter put on the students upon entry. Teamwork is oppressed in CRGS and the effects of this are evident when looking at the social capabilities of most students who find it difficult to make extroverted actions. Students that struggle to keep up are left behind as teachers only seem to care for the students receiving high grades this puts a lot of pressure and stress on underperforming students. As well as this the school is known for passing a blind eye for a particular teacher who has made transphobic, racist and homophobic comments and actions to some pupils. The only improvements the school have made in recent years were made to show a false front to Ofsted as little to no noticeable improvements have actually been made. All this means that many students suffer with mental health problems in late years, some even contemplating suicide.

"Too old fashioned"

School very old fashioned, teachers make subjects boring, makes us feel like we are expected to be smarter, does turn out good results though. I feel like it drains creativity and it’s stupid that you have to pick french for gcse
