Gravel Hill Primary School

I currently volunteer at Gravel Hill Primary School and I am most certainly happy that I had made the right decision to start my career with. Right from day 1, the school has made me feel welcome and respected. The staff are very respectful, and I am acknowledged, respected and helped not just by my classroom teachers but by every staff I meet. The children are well behaved and even the most difficult behaviour is being handled with respect and by listening to them attentively. The SEN department are exceptional and go all the way to help the children. All of the children's concerns are taken into consideration and safety is given the utmost importance. The classrooms are very spacious and well equipped. I would really suggest Gravel Hill as a perfect all-rounder and would definitely recommend to anyone

This school was my first choice, after seeing another 5, when my son was due to start. As we toured the school, the Headmistress knew all the children's names, children seemed relaxed; a very homey feeling. My son has now left Gravel Hill Primary and throughout his journey, I could not have praised them enough. SEN department is exceptional, providing high quality care to children. All adults working have always been helpful, kind and understanding. Teachers and TAs have always gone above and beyond, helping my son after lockdown especially. The sense of community has been strong from the beginning, and it remains.

This school was very unsafe and somebody even managed to escape without the teachers noticing. The food had hairs in it as many students complained to the pupil governers and there was not much care to students as the head teacher made it quite hard for struggling students. The teachers are very kind however including TA's but the head teacher is very selfish and has no care towards the children. Someone in my class got bullied for his culture and they only told the boy off and many others got shamed for race/looks etc. It was constant heat and the fan was shared very unequally and air conditioning was only intsalled last year. Things kept breaking such as the toilet and many people couldn't go to the bathroom. The food is undercooked as we found the fish on fridays unCOOKED and saw the skeleton and they don't wash the utensils. Very bad but the teachers and TA's are good

A very good school in the locality with pupils from diverse backgrounds. Staff are very friendly and welcoming. Even temporary agency workers claim that they are treated on par with regular staff and feel valued to the point many try to join the school team rather than being part of the supply. Pupils come to school happy, feel safe and know how their school can help them do better both academics and extra curricular activities. Their SEN work is outstanding and liaison with external professionals are meticulously done. Their recent stay and play sessions have been very popular with many families attending on a regular basis. Senior leadership team is emphatic and listen to staff and ensure their work life balance is always a priority. Staff camaraderie is surprisingly very good and work as a cohesive and well knit team. Parents are very supportive of the school and are generally very satisfied.

Bad school! My child got bullied repeatedly and nothing was done about it! One day my child came home and said that a teacher was yelling at people for talking during assembly and he made a young girl cry! I thought ther was no shouting policy!

The most toxic environment I ever had the misfortune to work in. Appalling management, children forced to walk around with their arms behind their backs and a culture of bullying. This school broke so many great young teachers. The turnover of staff there tells it's own story.
