On the one hand everyday teachers are very good, often going above and beyond to help. Challenging if a bit boring lessons. However the upper leadership either are incapable of or simply don't want to address the massive safeguarding issue. Beyond normal events like bullying, fights and drug use the school does nothing against much more serious offences. Many local dealers have people in the school. A… *(Jan 2025)* - **5/5** — Supportive pupils have: All I can say is that the school have very supportive and been there *(Mar 2024)* - **3/5** — waingels is bad: terrible school fights almost every day ruining childrens mental health *(Jul 2023)* - **1/5** — Please read!: Please do not send your children to this school. They are not safe here. Huge staff turnover, I've spoken to staff members past and present and they all speak very poorly of the way this school is managed. SEN children are labelled as naughty and needs are not met, they only care about children who exceed. Please do not send your children here! *(May 2023)* - **5/5** — Exceptional School with Outstanding Facilities: We moved to Waingels from another school in Year 9 and it's been a game-changer for our daughter. The school's focus on mental health and wellbeing has been a godsend for her, and she loves the therapy dog Winnie. We're so impressed with the facilities, particularly the Den with its sensory break-out spaces. Waingels has genuinely helped her flourish. *(Sep 2022)* - **5/5** — Waingels Sets High Standards for All: As the parent of a former student, I can attest to Waingels' commitment to excellence. My child thrived in the supportive environment, achieving top grades and developing essential life skills. The values of kindness, respect, and responsibility are genuinely embedded in the school culture. We're so proud of the young person they've become. *(Jun 2022)* - **1/5** — a great school for horrible people: The teachers are useless. They allow for bullying and dont even discipline their students especially if they're boys. During my time here, Ive seen kids in my year be assaulted, spat on, pushed, called racial and homophobic slurs, some boys would talk openly about wanting to rape/SA other students and what did the school do .nothing. I was continuously harassed in the last few months of attending here, disgusting things were said and done to me. i went to my head of year for help and support and… *(Jun 2022)* - **1/5** — honestly so bad.: i constantly get called slurs and all the head of year does is sit us down to talk. they also tell my mum everything if anything happens. horrible school. *(May 2022)* - **1/5** — Get me out of this dump: This place is literally shockingly bad don’t send your kid here.can’t wait to leave it. *(Apr 2022)* - **4/5** — Mixed Feelings about Waingels: We've had a mixed experience at Waingels so far. Our child loves their subjects, particularly maths and science, but we've struggled with communication from the school. The facilities are excellent, but we feel there could be more support for students with additional needs. Overall, it's an okay school, but we hope to see some improvements soon. *(Mar 2022)* ## Other schools in Reading - [Reading Girls' School](https://schoolbrowse.com/gb/reading/reading-girls-school-18816) — 2.5/5 (14 reviews) - [Maiden Erlegh School](https://schoolbrowse.com/gb/reading/maiden-erlegh-school-12332) — 2.3/5 (13 reviews) - [Blessed Hugh Faringdon Catholic School](https://schoolbrowse.com/gb/reading/blessed-hugh-faringdon-catholic-school-4104) — 1.3/5 (10 reviews) - [Highwood Primary School](https://schoolbrowse.com/gb/reading/highwood-primary-school-22992) — 3.2/5 (5 reviews) - [Crazies Hill Church of England Primary School](https://schoolbrowse.com/gb/reading/crazies-hill-church-of-england-primary-school-20967) — 4.9/5 (4 reviews) - [Theale Green School](https://schoolbrowse.com/gb/reading/theale-green-school-19897) — 4.8/5 (4 reviews) --- Source: SchoolBrowse (https://schoolbrowse.com) — reviews and ratings are user-submitted by parents.
