Another thing is that they pay more attention to children missing a tie or wearing socks or shoes that aren't black, than the fact that some girls skirts are so short you can see their underwear. *(Jun 2025)* - **1/5** — Don't go here: What the hell is this attorcious place? I have been met with nothing but lies. The school claims to be fighting against racism and homophobia but nothing has been done except a couple presentations that no one can remember. People who speak Welsh get WAY more oppertunities than the ones that are weaker in the language. People with learning difficulties don't get as much support as they may need to have an equal education. The porth is useless as they do nothing about bullying in the slightest. T… *(Jun 2025)* - **1/5** — School is crap: Staff is great, but the rest is horrible . They don't let girls do foodball or rugby, they don't try and teach their students about the LGBTQ+ and racism. The harbour is crap, it used to be a place to revise and now no student are allowed in. The bathroom doors don't lock, no toilet paper or soap. There's no pads or tampons. They don't defend children of the LGBTQ or people of colour. The canteen food is horrible. Is extremely bad and i hate it *(Jun 2025)* - **2/5** — Ymwelwyr ||| Disgusting!!!: I went to do the Tourists Pathfinder Course and in the sports hall the floors were dusty and disgusting! I sat down and it was absolutely scum!! on top of that the students from YDH in this course were mainly disrespectful and horrible. *(Sep 2024)* - **1/5** — bad school: this school is very bad my child has been going throw bullying with children in the school and the teachers don’t listen to any of the bullying and one of my son was crying and they just said “ look at me when i’m talking to you go to lesson now or your haveing a after school” that’s unacceptable behaviour i would like a invest in the school behaviour it’s very bad / horrible school i would recommend not coming to this school due do these actions *(Jun 2024)* - **1/5** — Very poor: Very very poor level of teaching. Teachers allow their pupils to use social media throughout the lessons and allow all year 12 and 13 pupils to sit around in a lounge all day doing 0 work whatsoever. Our own daughter has learned very little this year at all simply because the teachers are controlled by the pupils and don't care enough about the job *(Apr 2023)* - **2/5** — It Was Okay Just Not The School For Me: I left David Hughes in October of 2020 and in my opinion this school was not exactly the best I think this because the time table was very messed up and all over the place to the point where you would have something like four science lessons in a row in the time table there was not even a such thing as a single lesson that would be something you would have to worry about in six form not in year seven. Another reason I think this school was not the best was that the food in the canteen was awful … *(Sep 2022)* - **1/5** — horrid: everyone bullies eachother, even the teachers at this school (moreso by them), extreme bias to students fluent in welsh compared to english, they do nothing when anything is mentioned to them instead just writing it down and saying “we’ll sort it later”. *(Oct 2021)* - **1/5** — School of hell: The school isn’t helpful with people who have disabilities, they push you to the point of panic attacks just for “proof” that you need to be treated differently than most of the students. They also point blank deny people who need help with things most of the time if they aren’t fluent Welsh speakers. It’s extremely discouraging considering they pride themselves on being one of the most accepting schools in the area. In my experience, they also don’t help with bullying, instead just playing it o… *(Apr 2021)* - **1/5** — Bullying, Bias and a Broken System: Very impersonal, almost no accommodations for disabilities or students needing help. Rampant bullying. A lot of bias towards Welsh speaking students compared to English speaking students. Welsh students always had better teaching and opportunities. *(Dec 2020)* ## Other schools in Porthaethwy - [Ysgol Gynradd Llandegfan](https://schoolbrowse.com/gb/porthaethwy/ysgol-gynradd-llandegfan-24667) --- Source: SchoolBrowse (https://schoolbrowse.com) — reviews and ratings are user-submitted by parents.
