The school was established in September 2021 following the merger of Ladywell Green Infants School and Hafren Junior School, and it currently operates from the sites of the former schools. School, with plans for all pupils to eventually move to a new purpose-built building on the current Ysgol Calon y Dderwen site. The school is part of the North Powys Well-being Programme, which includes plans for a new health and well-being campus in Newtown.
