School have recently been in the paper for the extreme enforcement of their uniform policy, manhandling kids by tugging on skirts, running their hands through boys hair and getting on their hands and knees checking skirt length! They have denied any wrong doing, so either 100s of children are lying or the school think this is appropriate. They have responded that their uniform policy is clear yet did … *(Sep 2024)* - **5/5** — Excellent: Holy Cross High School is an excellent choice for education. Our child feels happy and safe here, thriving in a supportive environment that offers a diverse range of subjects. The pupils always look smart and presentable, reflecting the school's commitment to excellence. We are truly pleased with our decision to enroll our child in this wonderful school! *(Sep 2024)* - **2/5** — ADHD support and understanding.: I am speaking on behalf of my son. Who's son (my grandson )has ADHD and is on medication for this. At first his year head was excellent and helped parents get the diagnosis and he was supported. However since she left when he was in year eight his support seems to have disappeared. He is now 16 and takes his GCSEs this year and has had little or no support. He should be given extra time in mocs and main exams but has been refused as they say he doesn't need it. He is treated as a naughty child w… *(Feb 2024)* - **1/5** — do not send your child here: i am a current pupil at holy cross studying in year 11. i believe this school is absolutely appalling for various reasons. firstly, teachers are rude. they have no hesitation to slut shame you calling students words such as ‘slags’ and ‘tramps’ and in other cases called pupils ‘unhygienic’ and said they are dirty. other members of staff also judge pupils on their family background and single them out because of this. i find this extremely unfair and disrespectful. secondly, the support from staf… *(Apr 2023)* - **3/5** — Good but not great: Had a great time there but sometimes you felt like the teachers weren’t teaching enough to you before your gcses due to other students misbehaviour. They also used to lock the toilets during break and all lessons which was terrible because i knew someone who had an accident due to this. *(Apr 2023)* - **1/5** — teachers are bullies.: Right this school is awful. Teachers will call you slags, tramps and basically slut shame you if you don't wear your clothes how they want you to. There has been many occasions where teachers have lied to parents to get their child in trouble when really it never happens. They teachers here like to use their position of authority to bully their pupils and belittle them then they wonder way they got no respect from them and have them refusing to come into school. Its just a bad school do not send … *(Mar 2023)* - **1/5** — do not attend!: if you want to be helped , do not come here! best i got was being underestimated because of my mental health, no support whatsoever and my head of year coming to my house to get me when i needed a mental health day. the teachers don’t do anything about homophobic or transphobic students they just say ‘well they have a different opinion’ . if you’re being bullied they will find a way to blame you for it and it will not be sorted . worst place. *(Oct 2021)* - **2/5** — DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD HERE: The teaching there is okay. Like my GCSE grades were great given the circumstances. However, the school does have its many faults. For example, the fire alarm was going off during my maths class and the teacher told us to wait until we'd finished the question to go out of the classroom. Luckily it was just a drill. This was never looked into despite all of the complaints that were put in for it. Another example is that the bullying there doesn't get sorted out. They try and then when they fail, … *(Jun 2021)* - **1/5** — Do not attend: Awful, got bullied for 5 years and they never did anything. Teachers are horrible to students and have even slut shamed. *(Jan 2021)* ## Other schools in Chorley - [Southlands High School](https://schoolbrowse.com/gb/chorley/southlands-high-school-18140) — 1.5/5 (24 reviews) - [Albany Academy](https://schoolbrowse.com/gb/chorley/albany-academy-13870) — 1.4/5 (19 reviews) - [St Michael's Church of England High School](https://schoolbrowse.com/gb/chorley/st-michaels-church-of-england-high-school-12534) — 1.9/5 (16 reviews) - [Parklands High School](https://schoolbrowse.com/gb/chorley/parklands-high-school-13952) — 1.2/5 (9 reviews) - [Westmorland School](https://schoolbrowse.com/gb/chorley/westmorland-school-11042) — 4.6/5 (4 reviews) - [Whittle-le-Woods Church of England Primary School](https://schoolbrowse.com/gb/chorley/whittle-le-woods-church-of-england-primary-school-8059) — 4.6/5 (4 reviews) --- Source: SchoolBrowse (https://schoolbrowse.com) — reviews and ratings are user-submitted by parents.
