Shame because some teachers are wodnerful.: Put it this way... My other daughter is not going here!!- Had 4 years of bullsh.T with this school. But my daughter refused to leave her friends and leave. Some teachers are wonderful. But most the good one leave. Shame. And racism towards white british kids. *(Jul 2025)* - **1/5** — Assaults: Boys are being beaten up on the way home from school by gangs of students and the school and police do absolutely nothing about it they turn a blind eye. *(Mar 2024)* - **1/5** — Very bad school: This school is not great children who seek help with anxiety they are told to grow up and go back to lesson even though they is a place called comfort base or sen? Anyway children are not allowed to go their with out a pass was is understanding but some really do struggle and just told to grow up. Also with dyslexia they do not give coloured paper or extra help in tests they only are given a small overlay and will not replace them. Students don’t always feel safe due to this *(Mar 2024)* - **5/5** — Excellent School - Hazel Wood is the best!: We've been impressed with Hazel Wood since day one of our daughter's journey here. The staff are very supportive, and the facilities are top-notch. The extra-curricular activities are also a great way to encourage our kids to try new things! We're so glad we chose Hazel Wood High School for our child's education. *(Sep 2023)* - **1/5** — Don’t subject your child to this school: This school does everything they can to avoid helping students, tamping down bullying and racism and actively obstructs mental health/learning disability assessments. They lie and lie and lie. *(Sep 2023)* - **1/5** — Shocking: It's so boring, all the teachers are proper nasty apart from maybe 2, I agree with another person it does smell funny. I hate it and the toilet situation is really weird having girls and boys facing eachother while doing their business, sort it out. How it got "good" on an ofsted report I'll never know. English is by far the worst lesson, I don't care about the poems or Shakespeare I'd much rather sit and stare into space for an hour. The food is disgusting, the chicken looks raw most the time a… *(Aug 2023)* - **3/5** — Needs to improve: The school is improving Ig but lessons are always disrupted by other students on coridoors. Students don't feel safe. There are cases of bullying that aren't dealt with. However staff do take care of all of their students and the facilities are good. The toilets need improving and cleaning much more regularly. And students should be allowed to go to the toilets during lessons if they need to it's a basic human right *(Aug 2023)* - **1/5** — The School Is Shocking: It's just awful and not a great place. It smells weird aswell. *(Jul 2023)* - **5/5** — Happy school days: I am in year 10 now and feel really lucky since the new changes have come in the last 2 years. I’ve been on all sorts of trips and stuff, and I’ve been to Oxford uni on a trip. The teachers are great. Miss Rathar the deputy has made loads of changes and she’s dead nice. Our head of year isn’t great but there are lots of others I can talk to so it’s ok. *(Jul 2023)* ## Other schools in Bury - [Tottington High School](https://schoolbrowse.com/gb/bury/tottington-high-school-20365) — 1.7/5 (23 reviews) - [Woodhey High School](https://schoolbrowse.com/gb/bury/woodhey-high-school-21491) — 1.5/5 (23 reviews) - [Bury Church of England High School](https://schoolbrowse.com/gb/bury/bury-church-of-england-high-school-22136) — 1.7/5 (20 reviews) - [St Gabriel's RC High School, a Voluntary Academy](https://schoolbrowse.com/gb/bury/st-gabriels-rc-high-school-a-voluntary-academy-21464) — 1.9/5 (14 reviews) - [Unsworth Academy](https://schoolbrowse.com/gb/bury/unsworth-academy-18183) — 2.2/5 (13 reviews) - [Bury Grammar Schools](https://schoolbrowse.com/gb/bury/bury-grammar-schools-2492) — 2.1/5 (10 reviews) --- Source: SchoolBrowse (https://schoolbrowse.com) — reviews and ratings are user-submitted by parents.
