But it was hailing and we couldn't go inside so I got a cold from it so I ended up going home after. But what I was mostly annoyed about was the teacher said if I didn't run around and play I would get a detention for lack of engagement. *(Feb 2025)* - **1/5** — Terrible School: The majority of teachers at Dorothy Stringer don't care about students mental wellbeing. There is to much homework. Despite the fact I have never etended varndean I am convinced it is a much safer place to send your children. Some of these teachers have taken my will to live. Now I want to die. I do not recommend *(Feb 2025)* - **1/5** — Stringer is a really bad school don't go here: This school is so bad, all of the teachers don't care if you're struggling, they rarely ever let you go to the toilets even if you're desperate they just say "you should've gone at break or lunch" and if you're ill or injured in this school and you get sent to medical, they will just make you wait in a waiting room for 30 minutes and just tell you to drink water then send you back to lesson like nothings wrong, the medical team also has no experience they say that their medical team has experien… *(Oct 2023)* - **1/5** — Damaging Environment for young minds.: Terrible. Damaging environment for young minds. No understanding of SEN. Teachers allow bullying in classroom. Mock students in front of their peers. As with all schools, the focus and objective is to please Ofsted (who may or may not decide to turn up for a few days in the near future) rather than caring about the students and parents who are there day to day.- Of course what some stranger from across the country thinks after a 2 day visit is more valuable than the opinion of the students and p… *(Dec 2022)* - **5/5** — Great school: Amazing experience for my child at the school. Not only did they get amazing grades, but they are well rounded and had a great time. *(Nov 2022)* - **1/5** — V bad: school is so bad. teachers r a bit special. tbh varndeans better. food made me vomit theres been like 3 break ins and everyones a nitty. *(Oct 2022)* - **1/5** — Dont do it to yourself: Dont go here it’s awful just don’t teachers are pedos and lots of racists loads of dealers aswell gangs and all that *(Oct 2022)* - **1/5** — GAYDEDREFRFREFRFRE: WOWOWOWOPWOPWOWOW thank you so much for my grade 3 at gcse MEANS THE WORLD TO MEEEEEEEE WOOOOOO!!!!!! *(Sep 2022)* - **1/5** — The Honest Truth: Thank god I’m leaving the school this year. Since the old headteacher left and a new one replaced him, he’s turned it into a horrible environment. Teachers, especially males, are more focused on girls’ uniforms than their education, which is the primary reason why we come to school in the first place. The headteacher has unrealistic, extreme expectations for the students, often using teachers to target us instead of outrightly doing it himself. Prices for trips and prom are astronomical. The bes… *(Apr 2022)* ## Other schools in Brighton - [Varndean School](https://schoolbrowse.com/gb/brighton/varndean-school-5791) — 1.8/5 (18 reviews) - [Brighton Aldridge Community Academy](https://schoolbrowse.com/gb/brighton/brighton-aldridge-community-academy-11966) — 2.3/5 (10 reviews) - [Portslade Aldridge Community Academy](https://schoolbrowse.com/gb/brighton/portslade-aldridge-community-academy-12683) — 2.0/5 (9 reviews) - [Longhill High School](https://schoolbrowse.com/gb/brighton/longhill-high-school-5793) — 1.3/5 (9 reviews) - [Stanford Junior School](https://schoolbrowse.com/gb/brighton/stanford-junior-school-5671) — 2.0/5 (6 reviews) - [City Academy Whitehawk](https://schoolbrowse.com/gb/brighton/city-academy-whitehawk-14782) — 4.8/5 (4 reviews) --- Source: SchoolBrowse (https://schoolbrowse.com) — reviews and ratings are user-submitted by parents.
