The school has a positive environment for learning, with good relationships between learners and staff. The school is committed to providing the highest quality of education and achievement for all learners. ## Official rankings - **Ofsted (Leadership and Management):** Good — Dec 2014 - **Ofsted (Overall Effectiveness):** Good — Dec 2014 ## Recent parent reviews - **1/5** — Smelly Nelly: I have two children attend this school, it's completely awful, the curriculum hasn't changed since I was at school 30 years ago, the teachers are mostly bully's, the level of violence they direct towards the students is awful, most days my kids are subject to teachers shouting at them. And their go to punishment is solitary confinement and exclusion. The main focus of the school is victorian punitive discipline and body shaming. There is also a Hitler youth style cos play programme run by teache… *(Aug 2025)* - **1/5** — Worst school ever I regret coming here!!!: Dont go to this school if youre in sixth form. Firstly, theres a big field in the middle of the buildings which means that you have to walk 10 minutes between lessons with a heavy bag that they expect you to carry because no lockers are provided at the upper building. At the lower building there are shelves where you can leave your stuff but they get stolen and if you have lessons at upper all day, you cant walk back and forth to lower 10 minutes each way just to get a folder because you will be… *(Dec 2024)* - **5/5** — Excellent Opportunities for Students: We've been impressed with the opportunities available to our child at Sir John Nelthorpe School, particularly in the fields of music and drama. The school's commitment to providing students with a well-rounded education is evident in the range of extracurricular activities on offer, and we've been pleased to see our child develop new skills and interests. The staff are also very supportive and enthusiastic, which makes a big difference to the students' experience. *(Jan 2023)* - **2/5** — Wasn't very accepting of people's sexualities.: When I was there they were good at teaching but when it came to the students mental health they said they care but they never did anything about it and when it comes to people's sexual orientation they were t quite excepting (quite sexist). *(Oct 2022)* - **3/5** — Only go to sixth form: The people are horrible so don’t go for secondary b it go for sixth form *(Oct 2022)* - **5/5** — Excellent School with Caring Staff: My child has been at Sir John Nelthorpe School for a year now and I'm so impressed with the facilities and the way the teachers care for the students. The school's values of respect and kindness are clearly evident in the way the students treat each other, and my child has made some wonderful friends. I was also impressed by the Year 6 Open Evening we attended, it was well-organized and gave us a good insight into what the school has to offer. *(Sep 2022)* - **1/5** — Homophobic, racist and awful staff: I'm a former srudent and i have aldoheard alot from older former students of this school, so these are my experiences with this school. 1. Unecassary punishment A student got put into inclusion due to their trousers being "too short". Inclusion is where the student has to go into a room with a staff member at breaktimes and lunchtimes to miss out on them. The student was even embarrased infront of a class for their ankles being visible. This was only because they had just stood up from their sea… *(Sep 2021)* - **2/5** — Everything about this school is bad: This school is so sexist. Boys get so many sporting and educational opportunities compared to girls. Only the girls have a dress code and it is so old fashioned i mean we have to keep are ankles covered because they’re “distracting” you can only have one piercing in your bottom lobe. I have my helix pierced it’s a really small stud and it’s unnoticeable my teacher found out I had it and made me put a huge plaster over it because it was ruining the image of the school and effecting mine and other… *(Sep 2021)* - **1/5** — Crappy school: This school is terrible. For one the school is rotting and going mouldy and it absolutely stinks. They put money they get towards sports which its obvious that is the only thing they care about. They do not care for their pupils they only care about the school uniform . Bullying is said to not be tolerated but its a huge problem. The school staff are fatphobic, homophobic and racist. There is no diversity. The teachers are rude to the students. They are lazy and shout at every child for nothing.… *(Sep 2021)* - **3/5** — Uniform: more care is put into making sure everyone wears the correct uniform rather than actual work or classrooms that are not mouldy *(Jul 2021)* ## Other schools in Brigg - [The Vale Academy](https://schoolbrowse.com/gb/brigg/the-vale-academy-13013) — 3.0/5 (17 reviews) - [Brigg Primary School](https://schoolbrowse.com/gb/brigg/brigg-primary-school-7253) — 4.7/5 (4 reviews) - [St Mary's Catholic Primary Voluntary Academy (Brigg)](https://schoolbrowse.com/gb/brigg/st-marys-catholic-primary-voluntary-academy-brigg-13448) — 4.5/5 (4 reviews) - [Hestia School](https://schoolbrowse.com/gb/brigg/hestia-school-11589) — 4.4/5 (4 reviews) - [Robert Holme Academy](https://schoolbrowse.com/gb/brigg/robert-holme-academy-22540) — 4.8/5 (3 reviews) - [Scawby Academy](https://schoolbrowse.com/gb/brigg/scawby-academy-13508) — 4.8/5 (3 reviews) --- Source: SchoolBrowse (https://schoolbrowse.com) — reviews and ratings are user-submitted by parents.
