King Edward VI Handsworth Grammar School for Boys is part of the Grammar Schools in Birmingham, the King Edward VI Foundation and the King Edward VI Academy Trust. We provide a stimulating and educationally successful environment for our pupils – accepting Boys from age 11 to 16 as well as Boys and Girls at Sixth Form level.

"Some Positive, Some Negative Experiences"

Handsworth Grammar has its strengths and weaknesses. The school is definitely good at promoting values like community and respect, and our son has participated in some excellent extracurricular activities. However, we have experienced some challenges with communication from the school and the occasional inconsistency in teacher quality. We are hopeful that these issues will be addressed.

"An Outstanding School Experience"

Handsworth Grammar has truly exceeded our expectations. My son is thriving in a supportive and challenging environment. The sports facilities are excellent, and the values of the school (community, aspiration, respect, endeavour, and service) align perfectly with our own. We feel grateful to be a part of the HGS community.

"Excellent Education and Extracurricular Opportunities"

We were initially hesitant about sending our son to a grammar school, but Handsworth Grammar has won us over. The academic environment is stimulating, and the teachers are knowledgeable and passionate. The extracurricular programs, such as the dry ski sessions, are fantastic, and my son has made many friends through these activities.

"A Well-Rounded Education"

As a former parent, I can attest that Handsworth Grammar provides a well-rounded education that goes beyond academic qualifications. My son developed valuable skills through the school's emphasis on community, aspiration, respect, endeavour, and service. Although the school was not the perfect fit for our family, we have many fond memories and appreciate the school's commitment to its values.
